No, people cry out for the kids to get a chance. They haven't been given a chance in the past.
Milera has been given a chance. He isn't cementing his spot after being given his chance. He now needs to go find form in the twos and let another talented kid have his chance.

Yeah, he's been given a chance to instantly average 20 possessions and hasn't. Drop him!

The problem is we place impossible standards on talented kids and exceptionally low expectations on senior players. The kids are always the scapegoats for any losses or squeezed out when any player comes back. I wouldn't be surprised if Lyons had been dropped 15 times in his 40 game career so far.

He does that during the 2nd and 3rd quarter most weeks.

Haha, yes! How many touches did he have in the last quarter? I knew he'd have it on a string.

He's an ok player and definitely has his strengths. Kicks long, provides some run, is pretty decent on the kick outs. I actually don't mind him as a player. Trouble is that if he gets into any sort of contest on the field or needs to make a tackle or kill a contest he just can't do it.

Love how most of you seem to be suggesting changes despite coming off a clinical performance- bodes well for your team's depth
Crows are easily my favourite opposition team, so all the best for the rest of the season , regardless of what happens this weekend

Are any of you flying over for (or otherwise attending, if you're based in Perth) the game this weekend?
(I had the privilege of being at last year's game at Domain, and unfortunately, also flew over to A.O last year ....but expecting this game to be much closer than either of those 2 )

Would you say you are seeing him on The improve or growing in confidence since his debut?
I'm not expecting miracles, I'm expecting consistency in standard. I don't think Milera should get a gold pass based purely on Potential any More than Douglas or Hendo should get a gold pass based purely on experience.
Keep selecting him on current output and the only thing you are going to Instil in the kid is the exact same type of complacency we have seen for so long. Survival of the fittest is the way to go.
Why should Brad Crouch get dropped and then not come back in if we are going to be consistent and select kids based on potential only and not consider output?

Can't believe the number of people saying drop Milera. He's not doing enough... what?! We've cried out FOR YEARS for the kids to get a chance to play. Stop pumping games into old plodders! Back in the youth!

Now it's actually happening and we expect them to instantly get 20 touches every single week? Kids will be inconsistent, they'll have some quiet games, they'll have flashes of brilliance. Crucially they'll also learn on the job in the toughest environment and IMPROVE. We're finally using those spots 21 and 22 in the team as a way to develop players and people want to stop doing it. Sheesh.

You know though that milera will be dropped for mackay though dont you? Mackay is quality and you cant keep quality out of the side for a big game

While we should never gift games players on similar output at afl level we should play the kid with undoubted talent over the experienced plodder

Experienced players are consistent, inexperienced players are not. That's how it is. Whether we win or lose is not dictated by players 21-22 picked. Those 21-22 players are along for the ride, gaining experience. Seen improvement? He's just started. The first few steps on his pathway to the magical 50 games. We know when he gets there he will be an asset. It's the club's responsibility to get him there asap, fitness permitting.

Even in his quiet game tonight how many scoring chains was he involved in? Was constructive with what he did. Had more of an impact than Douglas and Henderson and that's without any 'discount' applied for potential.

Obviously no one saw his second half either because it was pretty darn good after being woeful early.

That effort with Bruce looked awful but the ball moved a metre in the breeze late and Bruce far too good with body position.
