Does anyone at the club have the BOM app?

Horrible weather to play 3 talls.....
My first thought is that we might wait and see if the rain actually arrives pre-game given how inaccurate BOM can be, but then I might be giving our selectors too much credit.

It should be just a straight choice between Laird and Smith. Period. If Laird comes in, Smith goes out.

It's like the old Laird and Crouch argument. The team cannot carry both of those old bodies anymore. Who ever has the form gets the call up, the other plays SANFL...

But we are talking about the "age of entitlement" Crows here where you get in the cliche and you are rusted on.
Nah, I don't think it's player entitlement, it's classic Nicks going to the senior core when he feels the pressure of needing a win.

Still doesn't trust the younger players and at this point he's not going to change that behaviour.

If he ain't going to change that now after this many years in this job... he never will.

He's either a terrible judge of younger players, terrified of the senior players in the fear he will lose his job, or both.

I was wondering if I should change the Nicks avatar to "back on double secret probation"? Today kept it as it is.

I laugh at how people think its a Nicks thing.

Its very much an AFC thing

18 games for our SANFL side, averaged 16 disposals a game. He was good and that's why we drafted him.
I responded to the comment “2017 Band back together again”.

Do you think that was an accurate comment given the FACT that Murphy was not on our list in 2017?

I realise it is very frustrating for some of our supporters to see all of the old guys in our team this week. We have increased the number of players in their thirties by 50% this week.

I think FR0GGY is close with his pigeon hole comment

Nicks has his squad has his team he thinks gives him the best chance

Nothing wrong with that but he has no imagination to go with it.

He locks players into roles and is inflexible to change or make change from his pre-season ideas

No imagination

The only explanation for playing Tex tomorrow is to try and get him to 300 games.

I'd like to see it - but not at the expense of the team, which it will be if he plays tomorrow.

Tail wags the dog.

I think it's pretty clearly both.

If one of them is going to sub though eg most likely Smith , is it really backing in the old blokes ??? Like he might play 25-30 mins

Eg how is it bad to have Draper as sub because he’s young but also bad to have smith as sub ( if he is actually sub)

Maybe we should copy Sam Mitchell and use older guys as sub more often

If smith and laird are both in 22 then scrap my point

You said Murphy was a disgrace in 2017

If one of Smith or Laird is not sub and both are on the field, then I think everyone on this board and supporters have every right to be extremely pissed off. I'd still have Draper as a sub over ****ing laird, but the coaching staff have their own narrow view on development clearly.

Back during the DMac days, I can remember a friend telling me the Crows culture of valuing experience over talent came from St Peters College where Trigg used to be a teacher.

Apparently they’d hold annual sports matches against rivals Prince Alfred College and regularly lose, with a policy of prioritizing and selecting senior players over more talented younger students. The rationale was that the younger students would have more chances in the future and the senior students had been waiting for their chance. Sound familiar?

It might be suitable for a school to make sure everyone gets their turn, but not for a sporting club competing at the highest level.

I reckon Filth is decent below his knees. Walker is okay, but not as fast. Fog is probably the concern. We need good crumbers in the wet!

This is what pisses me off about Nicks, he only finds about about new selection/positional moves he can make through injuries. Smith plays alright, only in due to Laird rest, ok lets keep him in. This move doesnt happen unless Laird is rested. Smith is not the best example but he is so blind to a lot of the potential on our list.
