Fog getting the Flu isn't great. But if that's the case I'd rest him and let him have a 2 week bye round. Give his body a proper freshen up while he gets over the cold.

Tex and TT can hold down the fort, especially if Dawson spends 50% of his time in the F50.

Understood.

I guess my issue with this is that his back injury isn't an issue to play full games at SANFL but it is enough of an issue to prevent him from playing full games at AFL level.

From what I remember it was a chronic pars defect which is a massive issue. Not sure its mitigated by just leaving him to rot playing full games in the SANFL.
I’d say it’s a fair chance why he’s had so many sub games

Certainly not a reason to play him in sanfl full game vs afl full game at times as you say

Interesting for a defensive side
A pick 2, a pick 6, a pick 13, Tex and Keays killing it. Throw in Rankine, pick 2. Dawson now spending time forward. Pedlar was pick 11 wasn’t he?

Not surprising we are such a high scoring side, look at the talent we’ve invested in there.

It’s backed up by our forward line efficiency, just look at the last quarter against Brisbane. Imagine then deviating from attack to defence and trying to save a game. Did you see Cummings comments? We didn’t get it in our forward half for effectively the last 10 mins of the game. We conceded 20 inside 50s. We were a Lachie Neale easy goal from losing that.

But the point remains. Not sure how Nicks can be a defensive coach when his side has been #1 for points scored in 2 of the last 3 seasons (23/25).

He can speak cantonese for all I care.

When you have the #1 scoring side in the AFL in 2 out of the last 3 years - you ain't a defensive coach.

Especially when the last 3 years you have the 10th, 9th and 6th best defense.
Personnel has a lot to do with it.
We’ve always had a better forward line than backline

Who is pick 13?

Aren’t we ranked number one for inside 50 efficiency? How many goals did we kick from our inside 50s in the last quarter?

Last year he moved away from being the number one forward line to more defensive, doesn’t that tell you everything? Look at the way we try and hold on to leads rather than continuing to score.

After last year if he didn’t revert to playing to our strengths he’d be crucified. Even then we started the season kicking massive scores before he’s changed our gameplan which have skewed our points for.

You simply can't be a defensive coach with a defensive gameplan and lead the league in scoring 2 outta 3 years.

And further to this - Ross Lyon is a defensive coach - he made the 2010 Grand Final (and was a bounce away from winning the first). He had two of the VFL / AFL top 50 goalscorers of all time in his side (Nick Riewoldt / Stephen Milne) and still was only 8th for points scored. Now thats a defensive coach.

We are the highest scoring team in the AFL. We have more offense than any other team. How is that a defensive coach.

That tells me he is an idiot. Not a defensive coach.

He was the coach of the highest scoring team in 2023. Then he shat the bed in 2024. Now we are the highest scoring team in 2025.

Stop. Just stop.

The last 3 weeks we average 109 points per game. Stop it with the early season narrative.

We average 15.2 goals per game. No AFL Team has averaged that many goals a game since the 2017 Crows and before that it was the 2016 Crows.

WE ARE THE #1 SCORING TEAM OUT OF 18 TEAMS IN THE AFL FOR THE 2ND TIME IN 3 YEARS!

We are the #2 defensive team for the year & think we have been #1 for past month or so.

Completely correct to say we are a defensive side

We're the #2 defense in the AFL over the last few months or something like that
We are reliant on our backline winning the ball to be able to score.

Doesn't work if you don't have a "defensive mindset".

We are not great at scores from winning the ball in the middle or creating repeat I50s.

But great at defending that kind of play and then scoring on the rebound with efficiency.

Our midfield issues won't improve through personnel changes. The only player at risk (excluding Peatling and his suspension) is Berry who didn't rise to the level

Our issues were Dawson being awful for 3 quarters, Rankine being awful all game and Soligo being extremely out of form and poor until he tagged Neale out of the game in the last

I wouldn't be devastated if Dowling played but I don't think him playing makes much of a difference.

Our three best mids have to show up
I reckon Rankine has a sore quad.

He doesn't have the explosiveness in his first few steps. A big weapon for him.

Agree though. Our improvement comes from these three. Not anyone playing SANFL.

BUT WE ARE THE #1 SCORING TEAM IN THE AFL! HOW THE F IS THAT DEFENSIVE.

What in the world is wrong with you.
No shit!

We can be good at defending & attacking you know.

Wonder why we have a good percentage...
