Henderson? He must be doing something right at training.Replaced a pure lock down with a basketball player.

Maybe its psychological, we are already the most offensive team out there. Pyke is very measured in everything he does.

Short memories, Hendo's already replaced an injured Laird. He may get a bit of the ball, but Laird is still a small defender tasked with stopping an opponent.

Talk of a trigger, but that would only earn him the offer. It wouldn't force him to accept.
There has always been talk of hendo wanting to return home.

Play him in games that we should easily win making him marketable.

It's a good time to trade him as we have better younger talent in the wings.

WOW ......tell me it isn't so ? .....did Mackay get another game this week  :):)

Gee ..keep trying the anti-Mackay brigade ....EVENTUALLY you'll be right ......i do admire your persistence though .....never give up, even though your judgements are woeful

Can't quite recall but have a feeling he might be a FA next year?

That's not what you said. You stated this week was best 22 week. OK, Brown missed through injury and was replaced by Hendo, but once that reverses, you've got your best 22 that you were so keen to declare.

What's the matter Vader, is there a name in there that you're not happy with? Don't tell me the goal posts have changed. Not another Vader classic like, "no I was right, I just forgot to remember that Reilly as a half back flank is expected to defend. I wasn't wrong when I predicted his spot was safe for months and that anyone suggesting otherwise has an irrational hatred of him because he banged their sister. I just forgot that half backs sometimes are meant to defend"
You might want to go back and re-read what I said. I said that the jury would still be out if Seedsman wasn't selected. It's fairly obvious that Seedsman is still in the best 22, he's just being brought back through the SANFL after missing 3 weeks due to injury. Brown & Seedsman missing from the best 22 this week.

Sad that Kelly didn't get a run, along with Knight (who has obviously struggled with injury) and CEY, he's one of the players who looked great last year but doesn't seem to have backed it up this year. Maybe Don isn't a fan?

Not even considering Wigg is interesting. I guess that's confirmation from the club that they seem him as a midfielder, not a small defender. Otherwise he would surely have to be at least an emergency?

I really can't see Henderson being asked to mind the opposition's best small forward which is what Brown would have done. Presumably Laird will do that role. I must admit, I haven't paid any attention to Carlton this year. Do they have more than one? Perhaps as far as team balance goes the feeling was, hey, we'd only be using the other small as a sweeper anyway so let's put in Hendo.

Hendo himself is an interesting case. I like him, he has attributes that are useful in a side going places. Not all that useful in a shit side, because he can't be trusted to win contests or mind a man himself, but in a quality side with ball-winners and a strong defence, it's very useful having players who can receive the ball, run with it, kick long and hit a target. The problem is that he just doesn't quite do enough with the ball when he gets it. All too often he halts momentum, or blazes away, or just plain misses a target. And he's not the kind of outside player who receives a ball two steps from a contest and gets away from a man, he needs to get it ten metres from an opponent or he panics. So he needs to play well off his man to be an offensive weapon and even then doesn't kick all that well. Hopefully he's just a stopgap measure while Seedsman has his SANFL run.

Always trust THE DON (I prefer to call him THE MAESTRO). It's not about the personnel, it's about the MAESTRO PLAN!

THE SEED; There is an increased risk of re- injury the first week back from a hammy. Losing a soldier (particularly early in the game) is a big problem. We also have a 6 day break before Collingwood. IMHO he will play against the RealMagpies.

THE HENDO; I am not a Hendolover or a Hendohater. I think he has struggled this year with the MAESTRO PLAN. His best footy has been as the loose man in defence or as an attacking outside midfielder/wingman. Neither of these positions exist in the MAESTRO PLAN. We essentially play a zone defence and if the opposition play a 5 man forward line, there is no designated "Reilly". This has been a challenge for some of our defenders (Talia and Brown are more comfortable as lock down defenders and Brodie Smith has also struggled with the increased defensive demands). I am not convinced that Hendo will be one of our 6 defenders rotating through our back six but who else is possible? Will THE MAESTRO surprise everyone and use CC or McLovin in defence?

Hendo's other role has been as an attacking outside midfielder. Unfortunately for him in THE MAESTRO PLAN our outside mids have a more defensive role. Who has noticed that THE SEED, THE RAT and BNM spend a lot of time deep in defence? (Mark Bickley thought THE SEED was a defender until THE SEED told him he plays almost exclusively as an outside mid).

I will be watching the game with the Crows Hong Kong supporters group and it could be the beginning or the end for Hendo.

Meh, playing a player who should be delisted at the end of the year.
It's simple...just showing Carlton fans what their getting next year when they take another c grader off our hands.
Hope he has a ripper, blues think they are getting a jet and we'll take their 2nd round pick.

Just looked at AFC site to check who is replacing Brown, heart sank as a big picture of Hendo appeared in front of me. Then described him as a defender.
Put Kelly in they are polar opposites and he needs a run. We have not played enough of the depth players this year they need to be prepped for finals if needed.

That's a good point, we've given very few players afl exposure this year
