Cumming hasn’t convinced me yet
He's a pro imho

Never gets beaten
Barely ever makes a mistake
High value for touches

Sure, it would be nice if he was getting a bit more of it but I think that more highlights our issue with turning inside ball into outside ball. Curtin only started finding the ball as a "wingman" by becoming a contested marking behemoth.

I’d like to have a look at him replacing Smith

With zero legitimate evidence beyond 'it appears to me' I think a lot of players don't start to thrive until their second year at a new club

And as has been pointed out by heaps of other posters he's been largely played out of position

Peatling has had the advantage with the Crouch injury forcing his move into the midfield rotations - to me he seemed to be struggling in the usually HF Adelaide graveyard early in the season as well

I think that’s a fair call in regards to to the second year

Cumming should be at HB and Smith should be in the SANFL.

Exackery

We should be trying the likes of Edwards & Dowling as wingmen to give us the option of moving Cumming back.

Last week using Max forward was yet another missed opportunity.

Not only playing out of position, a lot harder to find the ball as a wingman in a new system than at halfback.

How bad is it that we have to celebrate Murphy finally going out of the team in round 17 when we have minimal injuries.

He shouldn't be on the list let alone our Moron in Chief selecting him for games in front of others with much more upside.

Plus we still have Smith getting games.

With our talented list, Nicks is now our handbrake.

Such a shame.

Very happy Murphy is out. Now never again.

I would have preferred to see Draper or Edwards or Dowling, but will take it.

What do we do with Murray? I really think the coaches were hoping Butts would have a poor game so they could justify dropping him but he’s just going strength to strength. Surely you can’t unsettle the best backline in the league but Murray is too good to be playing SANFL.

Murray/Butts aside, looks like this is our best side for finals with the exception of who will take the HF role between Taylor, Pedlar or Murphy (but should be Draper’s).
The only depth we have of players that have played a game this year but not in the team:

  • Murray
  • Pedlar
  • Murphy
  • Crouch

Lower on the selection

  • Draper
  • Nankervis
  • Sholl
  • Borlase

If you haven’t gotten a game by now, you likely won’t be before end of year.

We’ve used 31 players which is the second fewest of any team this year (Geelong have used 30). Very concerning players will run out of steam or we’ll be having someone play their first game of the year in a final.

As a side note, we have to stop this ‘bad game = sub = omitted”. The sub rarely has a chance to dominate and the only player that has been able to use the sub to a starting position is Berry and maybe Smith. Everyone else gets a quarter before being dumped. The sub should be a strategic player that can make an impact, not your 23rd best player.

We should make Smith the sub for the rest of the season. Keep him fresh knowing he can make an impact, play back or forward as required, and has the experience to get up to pace.

He has gone from our #1 key defender to #4 in the space of 18 months.

Keep him in the SANFL to get his form and fitness back. Any injury to Woz, Butts or Keane is automatic entry.

I would like to see Murray forward, just plow through opposition defenders and allow Thilthorpe a run at the footy :) like a battering ram.

lol, what a pathetic post. Where was this post for the last 2 games?
Of course you have to have your little say. 🤣. How was it pathetic? There were so many who were SURE Murphy wouldn’t be dropped - much gnashing of teeth and anxious fretting… all for bloody nothing! It must be embarrassing to go off half cocked all the time. I just don’t understand why you don’t just wait for the announcement and either THEN go off at the club, or not, depending what the announcement is. You just never learn your lesson. So, as you are one who LOVES to call people out for making wrong calls, you can’t be surprised when it happens to you?

Perhaps Jenny before you bring out the You You You, you might want to find a post where I’ve actually “melted” about Murphy’s selection. Given you won’t be able to, I accept your apology in advance given it’s unlikely to be forthcoming.

Anyway back to why your post is pathetic. Murphy has been picked 2 weeks in a row, where were your posts mocking posters then? Of course you couldn’t because their concerns were validated.

So this week posters were again concerned our moronic coach would pick Murphy again, they commented on it in a changes thread because that’s exactly what this thread is for, comment on selection. If you want posters not to comment on potential selection what’s the point of the thread?

Then you get sucks come in and post crappy melt posts as if posters haven’t had valid reasons to have issue with selection previously and been validated.

Jenny has been against Murphy’s selection for a while iirc
