Apart from a fair bit of hype/hope on Bigfooty, I'm not sure what Snell has done to actually earn a debut - Hamling is still the better credentialled defender.

And until our finals hopes are fully extinguished, I reckon Cox won't be in a mood to take selection risks.

Given the match ups would be playing on Treacy, Voss and Amiss (with a resting Jackson or Darcy as well), I tend to agree that Hamling does make the most sense or we are stuck with Blakey on one of them again.

You're right - but until the mathematical chance is gone, Cox will be picking the team he thinks gives us the best chance to win this week. He has to.

Hamling is currently a more well credentialled option than Snell.

I suspect there'll be some debuts once the mathematical chance is gone. Dattoli in particular will likely get a run.

Lol finals we are about as much chance as West Coast on form.

I haven't watched much ressies lately but the stats don't scream "pick me" for Snell. 1 mark total last week and 11 disposals. 8 disposals and 4 marks the week before. There have to be some standards to being gifted a debut guernsey. I'd prefer to play Foxy.

Freo will be playing both Darcy and Jackson. They were also rucking Darcy and using Jackson as ruck rover in the ruck contests against StKilda. Ladhams could run with Jackson, he is also a ruck rover type of ruck. McLean can't compete and his kicking is off. Needs to find form in the 2s.

You’ve gotta put some faith in young guys at some point and given how slim our finals hopes are and how marginal the old guys are in terms of their actual value to the seniors side, the time is surely now.

I wouldn’t give him minutes as the first ruck but I don’t see why Green couldn’t be ready to play as a second ruck with a bit of time up forward. Like what Ladhams was doing when he was last in the side - he had 9 CBAs against the Crows and spent the rest of his time forward for a total of 61% time on the ground. I’d much rather see Green get that time even if he’s not quite ready for it as a second ruck than pulling the Ladhams lever one more time.

If Green and Snell are rarely doing anything at VFL level, barring the one or two odd good games, what faith is there to put in them to play at AFL level?

If you can’t take the piss at VFL level, then you probably shouldn’t be playing AFL..
