Re: Changes This Week

Bock out????!!! OUTRAGED!!

He's playing better footy than Hentschel, VB & Porps combined! Not to mention Stevens and Hart. It has better be an injury otherwise I can see no good reason. He was a gun last week.

Calm down Nathan - you'll be back in the side soon, I'm sure.

Three Changes...

IN: VB
OUT: Torney

Torney is injured, so we don't draw any conclusions there. Very interesting to see that VB comes straight into the side, without a brief stopover in the SANFL. I think he's the only 2004/5 draftee who is currently in our best 22.
Neil Craig had big wraps on him last night.

IN: Porplyzia
OUT: McLeod

Straight one-for-one swap.
How can it be a straight 1-1 swap when they play different positions? Porplyzia has been used as the roving forward and McLeod of the back flank. If anything I would have assumed VB and McLeod was the straight swap.

IN: Hentschel
OUT: Bock

Hentschel's return is no surprise. Bock's omission is the interesting part of this one. I would suggest that a number of factors are at work here:
Yes , apart from the travel issue I dont have anything to bring to this unless someone else is injured

I think VB will start on the bench , Mattner or Reilly will be given McLeods ''hbf'' role and Porplyzia a run on the wing running forward. Hentscell of course given a job in the forward ine

I think the selectors have got the structure spot on and back to normal for this game, as last week, I thought we too tall and light on for one mid-fielder.

Roll back the tapes 2 weeks.

Hentschel and Porplyzia were both in the side.

From that side McLeod and Torney have been replaced by Hart and VB.

Structure is still the same, pesonnel slightly different.

The selectors have done it well. :thumbsu:

I don't know if VB has been glossed over.
What other half bank flanker was available to take Torney's role.

It could well be like the Bock-Hentschel swap.

Also to those who say Bock's form is better than Stevens'.
How can you have form after just one game. He played a good game, but you need to see more than 1 game to judge form.
Except that Van Berlo hasn't played as a HBF for some time now. Prior to his injury he was spending a lot of time in the midfield and on the wing. Last time he played in defence would have been against WB on Brad Johnson.

Spot on Stiffy. I wouldn't be surprised if Van Berlo gets a run with roll tomorrow, thats what I think is his roll in the team now. Maybe rotating with Shirley on Judd.

At first I was a bit suprised that van Berlo was brought back into the team so soon. But when you think about how we have two small/medium defenders out of our team (McLeod/Torney) there are not too many options to fill those positions. And now that we have to find two replacements it is less suprising that van Berlo got the recall. Realistically what other options were there?

Not looking good weather wise.

Sitting behind the ( as you look on tv) left hand goals by the right hand point post about 3 rows back from the fence :thumbsu:

Gonna be seeing my ugly mug on tv by the looks :D If I look confused its probably because my glasses are all wet and fogged up

The more I think of this the more I see our more direct movement helping us in the wet. Though Subi drains well the grass is longer than normal and tends to create skids. West Coast would not be used to the rain as this is the first real significant rain we have had in a long long long time.

Adelaide to win , injuries and weather to hurt WC a lot

Id say the weather would suit us to a tee. We had 5 days of it to prepare aswell.

Embley and Stenglein are both doubtful with general soreness. Only one is likely to miss though. Chances of both missing are zero.

Was Bock dropped a couple of times last year due to the weather, or was that due to team structure?

Vs St Kilda for Match up's.

Match report will be nearly as brief :(

All kudos to WC who played their A game. :thumbsu: But what follows doesnt make their victory any less...just my Crows observations.

Adelaide looked mentally flat right from the start and never looked like getting into it. I said above that Adelaide would go direct...they didnt..WC pressured the ball carrier a lot. WC seemed to direct a lot of attack through Hansen, whether that was because he was Stevens man I dont know...but the funny thing was Stevens stood up in the 1st qtr

WC played a cross ground style ie get the ball one side and switch to the opposite side once Adelaide had all their numbers across...good plan by Worsfold.

I was worried about WC clearances and it seems with well founded fears. Absolutely smashed in the clearances...

End of the day we got beat and beat bad. Yet its over and done with we move on and focus on the next match.

WC had one of those days and Adelaide had one as well...just polar opposites
