Preview R18 - Maggies v. Pies [for the Minor Premiership]

From a ladder/ finals perspective, Collingwood have less to play for as winning or losing doesn't change their finals position all too much. They will be playing the Saints from 6th or 7th place.

Port on the other hand is playing off for the minor premiership which is important for the significance of the minor round season.

This isn't true. If the Bulldogs and Geelong win tomorrow, Collingwood need to beat us to avoid a trip to Perth.

Yea that’s not true. If the Bulldogs best Freo, which they should, Collingwood would finish 8th and have to travel to Perth, quarantine for 7 days and then play an elimination final against West Coast. There is no way in hell the AFL are going to let that happen. Prepare yourselves for the biggest umpiring stitch up in the history of the game.

Port easily , The pies rag dolled a young tired suns team last week with no input from King & rankine
as well as the shorter break and ports stronger midfield and foward line. Pies just qualifying for finals and port easily the top team all year

This is no coincidence and didnt just happen - Port have played well all year and have the Form

It would help if either the Dogs or Cats lost today. If both win, there is absolutely no way we are allowed to win tomorrow to consign the Pies to a trip to Perth and a week's quarantine. Especially not after Eddie's ability to get this game played at the Gabba instead of at AO in from of 20,000 PBs.

I was told it was their home game so their call about venue? 🤷🏾‍♂️

its gives us insentive and Collingwood really dont have that much to play for now, but it would be very Hinkley to drop this one and end up 2nd. As far as who i'd rather play it would definately be Geelong.

The result of this game will affect all 4 finals match-ups.
Yep, and the Pies in particular. Win and they stay at the Gabba v St Kilda. Lose and they go to Perth for a week's quarantine and the WCE. I wonder which outcome umpires and commentators will be instructed to favour ;).

Could be the most watched game of the home and away season.
And it’s Collingwood‘s sponsors who get the most exposure.
Still I am sure, well hoping, our boys will do us proud for our sponsors.
The battle for the Prison Bars

And I have to *ing record it. Gotta work till around 8:30 tomorrow night.

So...

Port
Richmond
probably want us to win so they can stay in Brissie and play Brissie first.
Dogs would obviously rather stay in Brissie than quarantine in Perth.

Collingwood
Geelong
probably want us to lose so they don't have to travel.
Would West Coast rather play Collingwood or Bulldogs in Perth?
Collingwood have beaten West Coast there, the Bulldogs have not.
Guessing they would rather we lose and they play the dogs.

Indifferent
Brisbane
are 1- 9 against Brisbane after a 1 point win at the Gabba in 2019.
Brisbane are 0-10 against Richmond.
Not sure they care who they play against.
Saints would rather play a "home" game vs the Dogs or Away vs Collingwood?
Saints beat both early in the year.
