Did Butts hurt himself earlier? And that was why Darcy gave him that little "tester" in the chest?

Didn't seem like enough of a blow to cause a punctured lung, unless it was just some freak thing - copping it exactly in the wrong spot

If Darcy didn't punch Butts, Butts wouldn't have left the game injured...

According to AI: A collapsed lung (pneumothorax) in AFL can lead to a player missing anywhere from a few weeks to the rest of the season, depending on the severity and treatment. Minor collapses may heal naturally in 1-2 weeks with pain management, while more severe cases requiring intervention could see a player sidelined for 4-6 weeks or longer.

Unfortunately means a long drive home too.

Would also depend on any damage to the ribs as well, if there’s a fracture then they can be really slow to heal .

How does Taylor survive? Lucky not to be dropped for this game and hardly lit it up.

Next.
There's a difference between being quiet and being actively bad.

Taylor wasn't involved much. Did a few good things. Got beaten a couple of times. Restricted Bailey Dale fairly well for periods.

Net result: Zero. Not a win for us, not a loss.

Compared to Murphy fumbling everything, kicking along the ground, crashing stupidly into our talls where the net result is a gargantuan loss.

There's always a third option. We've had a block of Taylor now. We know what we get. This is now the run in to finals. We need the best 22, not the decent 22.

Cycling through options on an ongoing basis is a waste of time. The coaches have had enough of the season. Need to pick and stick, let players settle and grow (and I think they will.)

Ok. But why Taylor?

If he is best 23 then he is 22 or 23 at the moment. So to not ever drop them is just compromising selection integrity.

I dont get it

He's competing with Murphy and Pedlar for that half forward role?

They've both been worse. Why would we bother going back to them?

His good stuff is fine. Looks like he has some smarts, will develop and is worth keeping in

Brodie Smith didn't play SANFL

I assume he was the non-playing travelling emergency.

This is exactly how we should be filling that role - it should be for players like Smith, Murphy, Jones. They have experience at the level. They aren't kids in need of game time. If they miss a game altogether it's no biggie.

I’ve watched three quarters so far and he’s done good things. So composed and has set up a few scoring shots.

Not Murphy please as we know what will happen...

Didn't get much of it, but did use the ball well including setting up Fog's left foot goal.

Also, did spend time on Dale who was kept quiet as one of their most dangerous players.

Not sure Pedlar or our other small forwards can create space for others like Taylor does. A couple of his handballs to set up scoring opportunities were sublime.
He’s probably on the brink of being dropped if he can’t find a way to get a bit more involved in general play, but I don’t think it’s a bad thing getting a few more chances to establish himself, especially with Rachele out and now Cook getting hurt.

It would be great to see him get a few opportunities in the midfield as well.

The vision they showed looked to have got him on the collarbone almost.
