Our pressure on the ball carriers coming out of their defence was disgraceful.

It's not the only thing Cameron brings but his defensive pressure, harassment, chasing will make a massive difference.

Oh and he's a talented footballer and big game player who belongs in a Showdown.
Agree if he is match fit.

Not sure he is. Would we be better of getting another game into the likes of milera & McGovern rather than playing an underdone player... Particularly as brouch not fully match fit & likely knight may play his 1st game.

I do not expect either of them to be dropped.

I expect Pyke will attempt to drop VB but be overruled by the other coaches

It's a mass conspiracy!

Probably arranged by the illuminati, but likely also likely involving some sort of NATO complicity.

After today's excellent SANFL game CEY's size and toughness over the ball is a bigger need than Lyons IMO, especially if M. Crouch gets time.
Inside clearances game high for CEY today wasn't it?

Don't turn up to the fight without your gorilla... Hartigan in...

other possible ins: CEY, Lyons or Knight.
on the chopping block VB, Milera, Mackay...

Just on the VB selection...

Firstly I am not a fan. He shouldn't be playing.

But a couple of things to think about:

- We had McGovern and Milera debuting, and B Crouch coming in for his first game in basically 2 years. Three very fresh players in three key areas. Perhaps another player like a Knight (with no pre season) was too big a risk.

- The role that VB plays in Pyke's structure may not be able to be played by anyone else at the moment. I'd suspect it's Hampton but he is injured.

Again, he's been terrible but some food for thought.
Henderson would be able to eclipse VB's role I would hope. Thing is next week similar discussion ensues with Hendo.

Honestly how many on here really do expect either of VB or DMac to be dropped?

I'd be quite surprised if Dmac survives this week, seeing Knight was very good in the SANFL.

VB, unfortunately we're not that lucky that our coaching department realizes he is nothing more than a very good SANFL player anymore.

Really was he that bad? I haven't watch the gsme in its entirety ( was working) sure he missed a sitter. But rubbish? He got in the best according to the afl website and was our highest ranked player.
Tex made some silly errors, but he wasn't rubbish.

Out: B. Crouch, M. Crouch (susp), McGovern

In: Knight, Lyons, Menzel

Cameron seems like he needs another SANFL game, Lyons ahead of CEY because he was the traveling emergency

Dropping B. Crouch and McGovern but not VB and Mackay. Can't say I'm surprised.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

B. Crouch was the worst player on the ground from either team, he wasn't just rusty, he was welded shut. Needs at least 3 competitive SANFL games before he gets near the AFL team again. Absolutely should not have played tonight.

M. Crouch made that selection decision all on his own, with a high five from the MRP on the way past.

McGovern tried really hard, but I don't think it worked. Much prefer to bring in a small to replace him.

At least B. Crouch and Shooter have talent

DMac and VB have been shit for years and I'm gobsmacked that we still have supporters that are prepared to play them in front of young talent

Yep that's why we have won **** all in 20 years

No, Brad Crouch was the worst player on the ground. Bugger all touches for a player of his reputed talent, and made a series of diabolically bad disposals and decisions that were one thing you could point at and say cost us the game on the night.

He needs to be brought back via the SANFL, like any other player who has just missed an entire season, and the majority of the preseason trial games, due to extensive injuries.

Wrong. lyons was traveling emergency, his preseason was far better than CEY and offers alot more

I agree, Brouch needs time in the 2s

I know your Lyons NO.1 fan with no challengers but I disagree, we need size and strength in the midfield along with someone with at least a modicum of pace, CEY has Lyons covered on all 3 counts.

OUT: VB
In: Knight

I'm expecting to see Henderson and Cameron in the team soon, Henderson is far too good to be playing SANFL for the entire year. Height and a long penetrating kick, is also another tall marking target whilst kicking from defense.
Menzel won't last too long in the 2s either, way too much class/talent.

Cameron and Hendo will probably come in for McGovern, MacKay over the next few weeks.

Not sure who Menzel will replace judging we still have a fully fit list. It'll be a quick/highly skilled team that's for sure & I'm bullish about this season.

You need someone who can win a clearance.

Lyons is a better mid, a better forward and a better kick and showed a whole lot more in preseason matches.
CEY is taller and faster but has averge disposal.

Who do you pick? On the 3 important counts Lyons wins easy

I really hope we persevere with McGovern up forward, I really think he's only a game or two away from breaking out and turning the game on it's head.

I pick CEY but you'll probably be right given he was the emergency this week, for all this talk of Lyons being a good kick I'm afraid his DE throughout his limited admittedly AFL career has been very, very ordinary, and I'd argue CEY offers more in the midfield with his sheer size, strength and pace compared to Lyons...time will tell..

I'm all for McGovern playing, but once Knight and Cameron comes in, who goes out? I highly doubt the coaches will drop VB & MacKay in the one go, it's just not how our club is run unfortunately and it's one of the vital reasons why we've never amounted to anything since 1998.

B: Brown talia, lever
Hb: Smith, Hartigan, Laird
C: seedsmam, Thompson, Atkins
Hf: lynch, walker, Douglas
F: Betts, walker, McGovern
R: Jacobs, m crouch, Sloane
I: Cheney, b crouch, knight, milera

In: Hartigan, knight
Out: van berlo, mackay

Both showdowns last year show we need 3 tall defenders.

Knight showed today he returned from injury well, so straight back in.

Cc didn't do as well, so give milera & McGovern consecutive games needed for younger guys.
