Lost the contested marking 17 to 8 last night, though Goldy had 4 of North's. Just looking at Rd 5 last year when we went with Talia/Cheney/Kelly on Schulz/Ryder/Westhoff we lost the contested marking count 13 to 2 with Westhoff and Schulz having 3 each.

honestly ive had enough. lost all faith in the club. why is it the entire country can see mackay and vb as nothing more than liabilities but we continue to pick them? its hard not to blame pyke even though im sure there was pressure from the outside. fact is they are hopeless and he has the final say as coach. also all his talk of 'team defence'? honestly couldnt have been worse. massive step back from the press we had started to implement last year. sando-like. yuck.

i dont believe this will happen but if we actuall want a chance to make finals (which i think weve missed after todays match, yes i know its dramatic but north are perhaps our easiest match for the foreseeable future and we couldnt take them out) we have to make changes.

Knight: he was incredible in SANFL today, set shot kicking a bit sloppy but exactly what we need. ran extreemely hard to get into space for 14 marks and had a lot of goal assists. can actually run defensively too. straight back in.

Cameron: not quite as good as Knight but he has mad pace and tackling ability. we need this and we know he doesnt necessarily need to get 5 goals in sanfl to come into the afl side and kill it. hes an afl player not a sanfl player. straight back in.

Hartigan: what was pyke thinking? i think this game was just about lost at the selection table. honestly WOW. MUST come in. im still in shock.

Menzel: very average workrate first half but when he did have the ball was all class. really good work rate in the last half but not quite ready and shouldnt be brought in yet. bringing him in now after an avg performance will just show he can coast. let him rip apart 2-3 games before bringing him in.

Henderson: good today but not what we need right now. we really do not need another player that doesnt tackle and doesnt run two ways. sorry hendo, maybe later. (and ive always been a big supporter of him)

IN: Knight, Cameron, Hartigan

OUT: Van Berlo, Mackay, McGovern

B: Brown Talia Lever
HB: Laird Hartigan Smith
C: Seedsman Thompson Sloane
HF: Knight Walker Lynch
F: Cameron Jenkins Betts
R: Jacobs M.Crouch B.crouch
I/C: Douglas Atkins Cheney Milera

good post but i reckon Milera is the one that comes out for Cameron... Milera needed a game to see what he is up against, needs to go back to the SANFL and dominate for a couple of games. he's just not quite ready in my opinion. McGovern is safe.

B. Crouch was the worst player on the ground from either team, he wasn't just rusty, he was welded shut. Needs at least 3 competitive SANFL games before he gets near the AFL team again. Absolutely should not have played tonight.

M. Crouch made that selection decision all on his own, with a high five from the MRP on the way past.

McGovern tried really hard, but I don't think it worked. Much prefer to bring in a small to replace him.

God, you say some rubbish.

The biases held by people on this board is just stunning.

And the idea that B Crouch is somehow going to get better getting 40 touches in the lower leagues is hilarious. He needs to get back to speed with top level AFL. And yes - that will take a couple of weeks.

This does make me appreciate Malcolm Blight all the more (which I did not think was possible). He had the balls to cut senior players loose when he knew that it would help the team to do so. Club officials and anyone else who did not like it be damned. The Crows need that now.
I was only thinking this during the week. Blighty saw trends within our club and smashed them with some hard calls. We all know the result. The problem for Pyke is that Walshy's death glued this group together, making it very hard for him to do something similar, as it would possibly fracture the whole group.

I was (and am) really in favour of Pykes appointment, but I do miss Phil's aura and leadership around our club. He was a club changer, like Blight, which is exactly what we needed. I really hope Pyke doesn't turn out to be vanilla.

Goldstein monstered Jacobs - that ain't going to happen next week. Jacobs a big factor next week.

VB - it's time to go.

Out : VB
In : Just about anyone.
Actually he didn't.

Goldstein 44 hit outs to 35.
Goldstein 13 disposals to 10.

He beat him but did not smash him but Jacobs did tire.

What qtr was it again? Wouldn't mind watching it again.

It's on the match highlights on the AFL app. Really seems like nothing is in it. Barely a free kick, and Waite's staging is what got Crouch suspended.

Will be weak if he gets games.

That's what I thought at the time. NTRabbit won't be happy.

God, I'm already fearful if it ISN'T VB and Mackay dropped.

Reckon MacKay gets another week. VB has to go aftr last night

Hartigan back in. Would love to get CC and Knight back in, but only way that'll happen is if they drop MacKay too

Cheney was good last night, so he can stay.....Going to be an interesting selection night on Thursday!

A frustrating night at the opera.

Would not drop our two young boys but Milera in danger with Knight playing well in the twos.

I would like to see ROB getting some game time this year to help out Sauce.

McGovern showed some really encouraging signs.

I try not to see VB negatively but he made some poor decisions last night and the key thing is he can no longer win vital one on ones.

Out- VB, David, Gov.(want to see gov back soon)
In, Shaw, Knight, CEY

Charlie one more week in sanfl maybe but could see him in

B: Brown talia, lever
Hb: Smith, Hartigan, Laird
C: seedsmam, Thompson, Atkins
Hf: lynch, walker, Douglas
F: Betts, walker, McGovern
R: Jacobs, m crouch, Sloane
I: Cheney, b crouch, knight, milera

In: Hartigan, knight
Out: van berlo, mackay

Both showdowns last year show we need 3 tall defenders.

Knight showed today he returned from injury well, so straight back in.

Cc didn't do as well, so give milera & McGovern consecutive games needed for younger guys.
That's it.

Hartigan has to play. If Dixon gets on top of Talia we need a back up.

Talia : Dixon
Lever: Westhoff
Hartigan: Schulz
Smith: Neade
Laird: Gray
Brown: Wingard

Cheney the 7th defender for his intercept marking.

Just watched it, no way he should he get done for that. He hit his shoulder upper arm. Waite felt the hit but got up with no harm.

The damming part is the umpire from where he was could not have seen what Crouch hit, he guessed.

He was 10 metres away behind Crouch and Crouch's body obscured his view.

north played the umpires...Brad Scott coached a ripper last night - everything he did turned to gold

Walshy taught him so many lessons last year in that first game i reckon.

Out - VB, M.Crouch (is suspended)
In - Knight, CEY (if Crouch out) 27 touches and a goal in SANFL

from left field Jono Beech anyone? was recruited for a reason

Fox report already pointing out the point of impact wasn't the head and that Waite turned away from the hip. Hope he gets off.

Good set up. Lever is athletic enough to go with Westhoff. I don't like Cheney even playing as a third tall. He's 187 cms and is a perfect fourth tall on that medium forward who often smashes us. Use him next week to sit in the whole in front of Dixon/Schulz with him helping out with the likes of Gray and their mids like Boak/Wines if they rest up forward.
