Obvious changes are obvious but think the Johnson calls to go need to be just about the loudest. HES DONE FFS , Ross really is flogging the dead horse there,as was mentioned earlier he plays loose or not at all and even then that should only be sparingly.
The club , along with WC fought hard to have a reserves side so the youngsters/new blood would get taught in a kind of simulation type scenario, Johnson ,(ballas and dp as well for that matter) can go do that there!!!
Also agree with darcy coming back in ,f#%k the recent trends ,darcy playing in the seniors is what we need long term and is beneficial to our overall list make up . Him at peel simply pushes another of our big guys back (strnadica, meek etc) to less than ideal development.
Another debutant this week cerra/ crowden doesn't matter, needs to happen, new stadium great opportunity for both player and club
Finally cant believe the amount calls to bring back Hughes.. the guys been not even average this pre season needs a lot more form/fitness b4 he gets a chance. Bring nyhuis if we want a defender.
I'm not even going to entertain the apeness calls
Out:jonno, sutty, Pearce and kersten
In: hamling,nyhuis,cerra and darcy

Find room for Dixon in the forward line.

Bring in Cerra and hopefully S Hill.

Out. Ballas, Sutcliffe, and D Pearce .

Not really like for like, but rewards good performance in WAFL.

Depending on who is fit

Johnson -> Hamling
D Pearce -> S Hill / Cerra
Kersten -> Darcy
Sutcliffe -> Logue/Hughes

Give Ballas and Langdon another crack but make sure they know crowden cerra and duman are ready to roll

just to add to my previous.
Bring defenders in so Blakely can play mid - Hamling, Hughes for Johnson and Sutcliffe.
Put Walters back in the forward half to make room for Blakely.
Darcy in for Kersten so we have a genuine 2nd ruck who is mobile and good with the ball and Taberner can play true CHF.
Hill in for Dan Pearce.
North, Cerra or Crowden for Ballantyne
Tucker to play on a wing. He is one you want kicking inside 50 and carrying the ball.
Its probably not a popular opinion at this point but I'm not sure how much Banfield offers in the long term as his kicking is too loopy.
Hope to see Logue back ASAP. He is quite talismanic in terms of the energy he brings to the group.

They’ll be at least 2 changes with Hamling and S. Hill coming back into the side, we really need Hill’s class in the guts where we got smashed against Port, he’s 27 now hitting his peak I don’t think he needs a stint at Peel.
As for who comes out I have no clue who’ll get the chop, obvious to me it should be Johnson and D. Pearce but there’s that sickly feeling that a young bloke will get dropped.

Out: D. Pearce, Johnson.
In: S. Hill, Hamling.

We can’t drop any of our senior gun players like Fyfe or B. Hill to ‘teach them a lesson’, they’re leaders for a reason, back them in to rectify their mistakes.

In: Hamling, S.Hill, Cerra, S.Darcy
Out: Tucker, D.Pearce, Johnson, Banfield

We don’t run in waves, we are a fairly crude kick mark contest sort of group. Let’s take some height into the contest. Also let’s turn the ball over less.

I'd like to see shill back asap as the next person but feck I hope we've learnt our lesson with him on this, far too often he's been brought back too early and continued to struggle .
He's definitely the sort of player who struggles to play through niggle/pain /injury
He's a no for me unless he's 110% , even more so this early in the season, if that means a run at peel so be it

Kersten didn't lay a tackle all game so if he's not going to provide defensive pressure around the forward 50 we might as well play a genuine tall who can take a mark. If Dixon/Apeness are ready that's fine but I'd probably prefer Sean Darcy as a ruckman/forward.

D Pearce for S Hill picks itself.

Sutcliffe for Hamling.

Johnson gets one more chance to prove he's still got it.

Yeah. Apparently Hamling was underdone but Stephen Hill can come stright back sfter about 2 weeks of full training.

He needs two to 3 weeks at Peel...and we can blood the youngsters ans stick Tucker on the wing

Outs :Time to get this rebuild in more of a swing . Johnson, d pearce, sutcliffe, hate to say this one but for the future... Mundy. Maybe not against Essendon but is he the future of the club? Prob not.

In: Hamling,Crowden,Cerra,north

I’m not saying this will happen. More of that if we are looking to the future. It’s time to start and not delay. Sandi also comes into the equation. We need to pump some games into Darcy and meek

What I'd like to see:
Out: D.Pearce, Sutcliffe, Johnson, Ballantyne
In: S.Hill, Cerra, Hamling, Crowden

What I think we'll see:
Out: D.Pearce, Sutcliffe
In: S.Hill, Hamling.

Can't see Johnson being dropped yet unfortunately, and can't see Apeness or Dixon being brought in off one practice game where we torched East Perth.

Out: Johnson, D.Pearce

In: Hamling, S.Hill

As much I want to drop Sutty I don't really think he deserves it. Wasn't that bad against Port relative to the rest of the team.

I would really like to see Cerra, Hughes and Logue find their way into the team also but that's pretty much for sure not gonna happen.

Hamling, S Hill
Sutcliffe, D Pearce

If S Hill can't come up, one of Crowden, Cerra or North.

Borderline is Kersten. He could have kicked 2 goals in the first quarter - but a couple his kicks into the forward 50m were thoughtless yesterday. That combo of Taberner, McCarthy, Kersten were effective against Essendon last time.

I'll likely be the only one who says it, but I thought Johnson was ok yesterday. He used the ball well by foot. He gave away 2 free kicks, one early and late in the game (one for holding, one for holding the ball - both could have been let go by the umps) and as you'd expect, he got burnt off by Motlop in a run towards goal. Those things probably make people melt a lot because he's 33 years old. All the defenders had to deal with clean entries into an open forward line.

I'd play Johnson as the 2nd ruck, leave Taberner in the forward half. That's the compromise of understanding that he's close to the end and we need to develop the defensive half without him, and he can play that 2nd fiddle role when Sandilands is replaced with one of our young rucks.

Logue has to play as soon as he's ready. I noticed he didn't play WAFL on the weekend, but he's a Top 10 pick.

Tucker to the wing is gonna be the Crozier to the back flank of 2018 imo.
Even at half forward if we don't have room for him on the wing would be better.

One thing I still can't explain is why we rarely use our outside mids at stoppages - especially at centre bounces. Guys like Neale and Blakely are brilliant at clearing laterally but rather than draw the outside defender and pass over the top to an open winger we just launch it on the boot inside 50. If you can get the ball to Stephen Hill, Tucker, Walters or even Wilson or Ryan out wide with some time I can almost guarantee our delivery and therefore marks inside 50 and efficiency i50 will improve dramatically. But nup, let's just thump it forward as quickly as possible because we have an 193cm KPF surrounded by 3 defenders there so that seems the percentage play.

Did I just step into a time machine and go back one year? It’s ironic we’re talking about the same spuds getting a game over the kids. Didn’t we learn last season playing the kids gives the team more enthusiasm and the fans something to be excited about?

Hopefully Ross and the MC have the sense to call time on MJ and D Pearce’s careers and let Ballas and Sutty know they’ll be at Peel unless there’s a plethora of injuries to the young kids.

Johnson turned the ball over directly at least two times and was saved by a free kick from turning the ball over ten metres out. He struggles to get to contests which is why he held watts and gave away a free. Which should have been a free kick. He was so far off his man on any sort of lead he may as well have been non-existent. If they haven't already, teams facing him would target his man on the lead all day as it is a guaranteed mark.

Apart from the two to three pathetic turnovers he also did at least four very lazy kicks that put teammates under enormous pressure and led to turnovers. I have been a big fan of his through his career but there is a case to be made that he shouldn't have played last year, and watching him at training and in games he definitely shouldn't be playing this year. Johnson playing is a symptom of our inability to lead when it comes to list management. Unless there was an injury a half cooked or prepared Hamling would have been better than MJ, what a bloody farce that selection decision proved to be. Yes yes yes, the match committee knows best... said by everyone when Neale was a sub in the GF as well. We have some selection tendencies/policies at the club that make little sense. I think we will have a better season than last year and the list has improved, I fear that we will limit ourselves long term if we dont learn from our selection mistakes moving forward.

Why in a clear rebuild Danyle was selected isn't fathomable. He wasn't good in the JLT, he wasn't terrible in JLT2 but he wasn't good either. As a club we went back a year in selecting him. It will be agonising to hit round 3 or 4 for eg and hear that our policy has changed as we are moving in a different direction. 2017 all over again... Fans and sponsors can understand a rebuild if we commit to it - our selection policy so far hasn't shown that commitment. Wah wah wah we played two debutants wah... yes and if Hughes was fit enough to be an emergency we should have played him over Danyle. We still would have played two debutants. Danyle started back and rolled through the middle at times. Hughes plays back and could have released Blakely through the middle at times. Again as much as I love RTB and think he is the best thing to happen to the club there is no explanation for this weeks selection that makes sense if we are committed to a rebuild.

The next argument is usually the integrity of selection argument. If it is communicated that we are rebuilding, then maintaining integrity towards the rebuild more than justifies the selection of a younger player over Danyle. I didn't want to say too much last week as on here at times any criticism of the team is seen as you simply being negative, or thinking you know more than the coaches etc. There is no defending the selection of Danyle - none. And there is no defending (apart from injury) the selection of Johnson over Hamling.

If Johnson is going to play at the fitness level played at this week he should be out. He could barely move at training, I wasn't the only one who reported on that.

Pearce (out for ever)

Kersten out.

Hamling
Darcy
Logue or Hughes in.

Logue injured, Hughes out of form. Nyhius and Grey should be considered, tell them career defining moment.
Unleash them on the Bombers, Honestly after some of the lethargy, poor skills exposed, at least these guys will
give their all.
Cera, Crowden, North will be ready soon enough.

How did Crozier go today. I watched the game and apparently he was out there some where but I never noticed him. Are the bulldogs playing him out of position as well.
Judging by the strapping and ice on his knee i'd say he injured himself, but whatever man maintain the rage.

Haven't seen the games to be honest but a quick look at the stats shows me he outperformed Daniel Pearce too. Despite the injury :thumbsu:.
