He did a few good things, but it isn't working with him in the team at the moment. We need leg speed and the ability to play more than one spot. He only works when he wants too. He has great potential but needs to work on a few areas to be a consistent AFL player in my opinion
Unless he tells Ross to go and sit on a polka pole (or gets injured) he will be playing this week.

I've let Saturday come & go and let my emotions settle and I have come too these conclusions

Danyle Pearce's spot in the team is untenable and has too be delisted /retired
Cameron Sutcliffe's spot in the team is untenable and has to be delisted and is unlikely to be tradeable due too lack of suitors
Shane Kersten has too be dropped for 2 months to sort his game out if he can not give greater output on his return his AFL career is dead.
Tom Sheridan did not play but I am putting him in this group because he is in the same canoe as Shane Kersten in shit creek
Hayden Ballantyne has too be dropped and given a month too see if he has the desire to continue .Will be pushed if he don't jump first.
Michael Johnson has too be dropped also BUT have got this gut feeling will be given this week to prove he is able to handle this season but it is plain for all too see he is in the same boat as Danyle Pearce

Now the Controversial
Darcy must be our number 1 ruck as of now... where this leaves Sandi is a tough call for the club
Mundy stay's in the team if fit , he straightens up our forward line and will be a great onfield mentor for the increased number of sub 21yo youngsters

Pretty much this.

I'd give Balla another shot ...he wasn't our worst.

MJ is in the habit of holding now, he could of given away a couple more on the weekend.

Just hope Mundy, B Hill, Tucker, Langdon lift.

I watched the replay yeterday, there were many examples of Ballantyne finding space to receive a 30 metre kick but instead we kicked it long to a 50/50 near the boundary.

Pearce will be like Dawson last year. He won't be delisted or retire but it would take an absolute catastrophe for him to be picked again.

I thought so too...that's why I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Really looking forward to watching the game live too....so much easier to see who is working and if there are better options not seen or taken.

TV can bear false witness sometimes.

I can not share the ballantyne sentiments. output has been poor as has the body language , the energy levels are gone - the fire is out

I assume you mean the fans chopping block? I'll bet good money Ballas has way more rope than that with Ross.

Also as fun as most here find it to bash Sutty, he wasn't close to worst on ground on Saturday.

I agree with your post.

Ballas has had a good summer training period and done everything asked of him, that would get a lot of ticks in Ross's book. My point was that he definitely was not going to be in the gun yet.

We are looking at changes, so I'm assuming Hamling & S. Hill are fit, thus they are automatically back in the 22. It means that 2 must go out, unfortunately Sutty & Danyle are the obvious ones + Kersten.

I have this gut feeling and its not a good one. I have a feeling Ross Lyon will give the oldies one last chance. If that's the case, we will be belted by 40-50 points. Meltdown ensures then the board will force Ross Lyon to play the kids. Just like early last season where Freo got beaten by 89 points last year and we played the youf.

Pearce and Sutcliffe won't play. Hill and Hamling will. Your gut will be fine.

I didn't think Sutcliffe had a bad game. Didn't do anything wrong IMO. I guess his problem is he didn't do anything right either.

His main weakness is that his tackles just don't stick. Gets brushed aside in the contest. Grey, Hughes and Nyhuis all offer much more IMO.

Please please please

Hilly in for Pearce
Crowden in for ballas
Hamling in for Sutcliffe (he went OK)

Personally would like to see Cerra get some minutes before Banfield gets them. Banfield seemed a little sloppy withdisposal compared with Brayshaw

Out: Kersten, dpearce
In: Hamling, shill (crowden if hilly isn't fit)

Sutcliffe lucky hughes, logue and spurr are underdone/injured - maybe a good opportunity for Nyhuis
Ballas lucky our only real replacement for small crumbing forward is switkowski coming off an interrupted pre-season

Alas I think there will be minimal changes this week. Handling and Hill for PearceD and Brayshaw.

Saturday should be a red letter day for the club. First game at new stadium.

Another debacle will not sit well

Hard to work out why Nyhuis can't get a start.

For who though?

Ryan and Wilson obviously not. Logue and Hughes probably have more potential as those medium type defenders...

Would prefer him over the spud brigade in Danyle or Sutty though, so if one of the above isn't coming in then yeah maybe worth a try.

One time river end when Fyfe totally burnt him and Ballas chewed his ass out.

Would you prefer Duman or Nyhuis in the Freo backline? I haven't seen them.

Nyhuis has not put a foot wrong for Peel and can lock down incl shutting down wonder boy Ryan. He deserves his shot now. Duman is not far behind and should get his go later on in the season. I can't think of any of the Peel watchers who haven't been impressed by both of them.

Nyhuis can play tall and also lock down something Logue and Hughes haven't shown yet. Pearce played hbf against Port. Surely Nyhuis should have been in the side and Pearce running around for Peel. The word was that Pearce was told it would be Peel for the season. Don't know what happened there.

He came to us a running defender and was then taught to lock down. Would much prefer him playing the run-off role than D Pearce and Nyhuis is a much tidier and more consistent kick.

Out: The Banner
In: Inflatable Sea Container

I think it is an outrage that the Eagles produced an inflatable run through Eagle, that is so 1995.

Next they will lug a huge avairy onto the oval with rope and have some lunatic stand on top brandishing Eddie the Eagle.

I miss the rock anchor!
