Went straight to Noah Anderson when he came on, obviously given a task by the coaches and I thought he did quite well curbing Anderson's influence. His pressure and close checkingforced Anderson to handball a lot more than usual and cut his damaging kicking to a minimum.
Which is all great for a kid developing his game.

Which he isn't. Six years in.

Couldn't win the ball in the middle. You can't be a pure stopper with no offensive game at this level.

Was ok when playing wing.

He is a good sub candidate though and could be usefull stopping midfield momentum. If Berry needs a rest.

He is never going to be a genuine best 22 player for us. And certainly not an AFL quality mid.

Will be good for Tassie though as a cheap AFL experienced player.

People you mean me?
He’s not afl standard.
And it was peatling on Anderson mostly.
Chayce came on and played wing then shifted into the centre late.
I'll have to watch it again but I wasn't all that fussed with Jones' game today.

In: Bond, Cook
Out: Hinge (inj), Pedlar.

Bond comes in to move Max up to the half back flank and Cook deserves a reprieve after knocking himself out a fortnight ago.

Rain forecast in mind, what I would do:

Out:
Hinge (inj), Walker (managed), Jones (omitted)

In:
Nankervis, Cook, Dowling

Sub:
Dowling or Pedlar

Notes:
1) I don’t care what anyone else thinks - Tex is about as useful as **** on a bull in the wet and picking him is objectively incorrect. Dry weather = yes. Wet weather = no.

2) Cook proved in a half against the Bulldogs that he deserves a shot in the side as someone delivering the ball inside 50. Ball use and decision making are supreme and these skills will be important in these conditions.

3) Nankervis looks a class above at SANFL level after being recast as a forward, and would essentially replace Tex in this wet weather fixture. Offers far more at ground level in the conditions and has genuine speed and agility.

4) Dowling is ultra consistent, ultra versatile and deserves a shot over all of Edwards, Draper, Smith, Jones and Murphy for mine. I do understand that Jones likely holds his spot though, and I don’t hate Jones as a wet weather player so it’s probably fine.

5) Before the “but Hinge is in our back 7 and you haven’t replaced him with a defender” comments - Isaac Cumming replaces Hinge. Cook replaces Cumming ;)

6) I am fully aware that these changes will not occur, and that Hinge going out with injury and being replaced by Smith is likely the only change, barring further injury news.

After game injury report

Adelaide High Performance Manager Darren Burgess has provided the following update on Mitch Hinge, Sam Berry, Riley Thilthorpe, Jordan Dawson and Isaac Cumming following the Crows’ 61-point win against Gold Coast at Adelaide Oval on Sunday evening.

Mitch Hinge

“He has a significant corked hip and he’s in quite a bit of pain, so we’ll see how the next few days unfold for him."

Sam Berry

“Sam copped a heavy knock however upon assessment, he presented with no concussion symptoms and returned to the field.”

Riley Thilthorpe

“A great effort by Riley. He had been ill overnight and he was in some doubt right up until the warm up, so to contribute the way he did was a really strong performance.”

Jordan Dawson and Isaac Cumming

“In regards to Jordan and Isaac, we were carefully managing their game time in the fourth quarter given the current state of the season and the upcoming 6-day break into the

Don't think they'll drop Pedlar off one game, but you'd imagine he's right on the edge if we want to bring Cook straight back in (or do something with Nank, Dowling, Draper etc).

If Hinge is ruled out you imagine Nicks will probably go back to the Smith well, rather than Edwards as much as we all want it. Though they could conceivably do some shuffling and not need to bring in a like-for-like (Cumming/Jones to defence?).

We might be coming into this showdown the shortest priced favourites we’ve ever been.

We’re still too long,

They’re not a bad football team but a sclerotic bad football club who god willing will fold in the next decade.

We should win by 100
With nothing to lose it’ll be concussion city with Port going the biff as usual.

We win by 50.
