Even if, the single biggest problem Bond faces is Michalanny is the magnet in front of him.

Effectively there is nothing Bond can do whilst Max is our go to match up against their best small.

Except we had a great opportunity when we played Max forward.

Honestly the Collingwood game is one we should be setting to win, we have to get over that hurdle particularly at AO.

In theory, we should start that game as favourites. Recent results suggest that we’re fairly evenly matched. It’s on our home ground, our form is better, and their injury list is longer.

However, they’re just so well drilled in managing close game situations, which is still a weakness for us at the moment. Unless we can put a five goal gap on them I’d be worried.

It will be a good test if the Pies do get on a roll like that.

In theory, we are perfectly placed to handle it. Our defence is really solid and cohesive, and we are really well set up to punish on turnover.

When the Pies chase down margins, they do it by throwing all their chips in, they play fast, high risk footy, and they rush the defence. The reality is, that if you stick to your guns, and back your defence and your usual set ups, they might be able to put 2-3 goals together, but they will make a mistake eventually that you can capitalise on and put the game out of reach.

What often happens though is teams panic, and don’t handle the pressure. They become so obsessed with just stopping the momentum that they lose their way. It then becomes inevitable, because you can’t stop a team as good as Collingwood from scoring in that mode, the only way to beat them is to take advantage of the inevitable errors.

Collingwood don’t do anything that complicated. They’re just really well drilled, and do the simple things really well.

Beating them is not overly complex, it’s just really hard.

I will be surprised if he isn’t given more opportunities during August.

We seem to be auditioning players for the last 3-4 spots in our 23. It looks like a wet, windy, shitty night so probably fair to get Cooky to have a run in the twos. If Hinge isn’t 100% then Cooky can be a late in.

I think we want to keep Cumming on the wing rather than move him to halfback and play Chayce on the wing.

We have another 6 daybreak (naturally Hawthorn have 8 days) so we might need some different soldiers next week.
