I read through the entire Port gameday thread and it was a pitiful display. The amount of whinging about the umpires was incredible. I get that we all complain about the umps but if your side is getting done like that, there comes a point when it's just not fashionable to play the victim.

How was the free kick count in this showdown?

I don't think it was lopsided.

As you said, if your side is up by 10 to 15 goals with 10 minutes to go, I don't think the umpires have any bearing

I think this board is almost as bad tbh. You'll never see a gameday thread where people don't complain about the umpires, despite the fact that we have a positive free kick ratio overall, and especially at home.

But given that Port actually do have a significantly negative free kick count they are basically obsessed. As though the umpires are sitting down each week and deciding who they want to win or something. It's ludicrous.

It's Forest repeating a saying his mother drilled into him as a child. She's continually telling him he's not stupid and that people are defined by there actions. Yet he's living in world where the majority of people he comes across think and treat him like he's simple or stupid (seems like some form of autism)

Yes, on the spectrum for sure, and yet:

That line (and several others) cuts right through me, every time.

I travel/drive long distances in Outback Oz as part of my Business which means many days away from home, many phone calls etc.
When I describe to my partner something different or beautiful that I saw, she often tells me that she wishes she had been there to see it with me.

The movie is littered with seemingly intelligent people showcasing just how dysfunctional so many of them/us were/are. Seemingly intelligent yet deeply flawed people making 'stupid' decisions
And the paradox is Forest being the adult and leading a seemingly successful life

Again, yes; Forrest is a decent, honest and kind man-child. There's not a mean or nasty cell in his body.

What was all the carry on with Keays? Was that the goal?

Yes.
At first, RoB handballed (played on) to Keays who snapped a goal which was disallowed.
The ball was called back to RoB who then did the same thing (handballed to Keays) but the Umpires again stopped the play.
I don't know why.

RoB then lined up to kick checkside (which made me groan) but kicked the goal, and goodonim .

We got a another good run from the umps. Has been like this for a while now. A lot more dodgy calls in our favour than theirs.

Umpires just need to chill the **** out and stop thinking they're the focus of the game.

Why "stupidly"? That's a winning bet. Neither side won by 29 points or less.

I can't see Geelong slipping. Crows would want a non Victorian side in this year's grand final.

You've assumed we'll be playing in the GF, but to do that we're going to have to get past Collingwood, first in Round 23 and maybe also a PF.

Is he already exceeding what we thought was his ceiling? He's taking his game to a level where he's in discussion for best player in the league imo. Didn't think he would ever be such a dominant player all over the ground.

The play at 1m18s at a ruck contest where he just outmuscles Drew, picks up the ball and runs past 2 port players (Rozee one of them ) to dish off cleanly to the outside player was absolutely sublime...

My god this kid is going to be something else.

I was surprised with the result.

I knew crows were going to win. But not by almost 100 points.

And yes I took the weather into consideration as I thought it was gonna be a close game.

I remember the last showdown early in the season when crows lead by 88 to 67 with like 6 minutes to go and crows hung on to win by under a goal.

Fortunately this showdown wasn't as close or as dramatic.

Game was done by 3 quarter time... But percentage always counts.

Dockers did the crows a massive favour a week ago beating Collingwood.

I can't see Geelong slipping. Crows would want a non Victorian side in this year's grand final. So Brisbane, GWS, gold coast and Fremantle could all make finals

From an umpiring perspective on gf day, I'd prefer a non Victorian team. But as an opponent, I'm more wary about the non Victorian teams. Particularly those who are coming late and show good current form. Your Dockers for example, if they were to make the gf from here, would need to be on a great run of form away from home. Gws the same...and Brisbane know how September works. Oddly, Geelong and Collingwood look less dynamic. I think the Crows can show them both a clean set of heels.

I thought the only egregious ones were the insufficient intent calls. I'd of thought given the conditions they'd be a bit more lenient on it, but they seemed to go the opposite a few times and pinged Port just cause they could.

It was all over the shop. Inconsistency in tackles, and below the knee calls. Inconsistency in marking contests.

I think we got a free on the wing in Q1 where I had no idea what it was for. Two of Ports goals from dubious frees. ROB taken out of a marking contest. Just a raffle every time.
