Why did Isaac Cumming miss the game?

Why did Isaac Cumming miss the game?
Darren Burgess, Adelaide's High Performance Manager, recently provided an update on Isaac Cumming's availability for the upcoming Showdown. Cumming will miss the game due to lower leg soreness. Burgess indicated that the decision to rest Cumming was made out of an abundance of caution.

Edwards 8 marks against Port
Nank with 1.3 and 26
Draper 11 tackles 20
Crouch just Crouching.

Cumming obviously the "in" for MM to play off half back.

Pedlar and Jones are bottom 2 but hard to say if they are in trouble or not.

I'm just concerned we will have a let down on Friday night, such a good win against Port and just a fun blow out at the end.

Involves having the best side we have put out all year on the park. It's pretty much a GF for us. We will need to play as well as we have all year to win no doubt about it.
Will Day back in is a massive lifter for the whole team, amazing how much better you tend to play when he’s in the side. He’s a jet.

Dear and Lewis also building at the right time.

You guys are looking good, should be a cracking contest.

When is Weddle due back?

Not Crouch

Do not read his stats and think he should come into this team. His opponent had one less possession, 5 more clearances, a goal and even in the magoos, teams run off half back through him.

If Matt Crouch is the answer, it would have been to a stupid question.

Ignore the scoreboard, the real measure is raw clearance numbers and we only won that by 7. Just lucky the siren went when it did. Can’t get Crouch back in quickly enough.

We love his rebound but don't underestimate Max's ability to lock down on a player. I think we need to bring in Bond to play on Watson, and rely on others for rebound.

Smith was next man in and I’d say we’d stay true to that. If there’s a change after Cunming returning, Smith would be most likely.

Cumming for Max is obvious. You could see the argument for Bond as a lockdown option as well - Pedlar should be the one to come out if we go that route. Jones stays sub.

I think it's more likely that Jones gets that defensive role rather than bringing in a new player though and someone else moves to sub.

Max pinged him hammy on a kick out of defence. He kicked and grabbed his right hammy straight away and ran straight to the bench. Surprised they didnt pick it up on commentary given how visible it looked at the ground.
Bugger

Sounds from that like a standard 18-21 day hamstring. Not tightness or awareness

The pathetic lack of effort by anyone associated with the broadcast to look into what Michalanney’s injury even is was staggering.

Do we know for sure yet that it’s a hammy? Could it be a quad? He could barely walk down the race. Fingers crossed it’s not a 6 week injury. Max is a top 6-8 player for us in terms of importance. Probably top 4 against bloody Hawthorn with their bevy of smalls. Shocking timing.

Personally I’m not a Hugh Bond believer (he’s an honest trier, and he’ll put pressure on, but when the ball is in his hands at the top level he’s a complete liability for mine) so I’d be bringing back Cumming and shuffling the deck a bit to get Chayce into the 22 to lock down a small in Max’s absence.
You say Bond is a liability with ball in hand yet you want Chayce back into the 22?

Don't think it matters genuinely don't see hawthorn getting near us and have maintained that for weeks.

You seriously should read their preview thread. It reminds me how much I hate Hawthorn, well actually their supporter base. A whole bunch of them saying we won’t know what hit us, they’ll smash us, blah blah blah.
We’re on top of the ladder (for today), sit on 146%, have the highest rated defence in the AFL, which is also the 3rd highest rated defense since champion data has existed.
I really can’t wait until we do a number on these pricks this week.

Out: Michalanney, Pedlar
IN: Bond (will probably be Smith), Cumming

I doubt Pedlar will be dropped but I've just about given up on him. I had him as a potential A grade mid/forward but he just doesn't do enough or get enough of the ball. I don't know if it's a fitness or work rate issue, but I would have thought last night conditions would have been perfect him.

Taylor - building but hasn't cemented his place IMO.

Cook - who is this guy wearing number 15. Looks a completely different player. His intensity and work ethic have gone through the roof. He looks hungry. Amazing what a bigger body and confidence can do for your game. That kick to Fogarty was sublime.

Jones - Doing okay but I don't see a long-term role.

Bond - One of the few success stories of 2024. Came in and immediately looked a 150-200 game player. Tough, aggressive and composed under pressure. Really unlucky not to have played this year.
