Re: Peatling of whom I was a big fan until ...
His fumble early in the first really worried me; it smacked of hearing footsteps as 2 Hawks pounced, poached the ball and goaled from it.
That kind of fumbly hesitance under pressure is not what we need going forward.

Anybody at the ground; did he just have an off-night or is there cause for concern?
Nah he’s as hard as anyone, just had an off night and fumbled almost everything.
Did so a nice left foot check side on the boundary into the 50 though.

Admittedly I was at the pub so haven’t had a chance to see the game properly, but did Peatling have a howler of a game or just a few really bad moments.

Seemed like a couple of goals game directly from him fumbling the ball multiple times where clean hands would have sent the ball the other way.
I certainly would have with plenty of of metres on it😁

I do have a question - since when do we stop a game because a player has cramp? What the **** is the AFL doing?

There was a trainer on the field. Play cannot continue if there's a trainer there. It's a massive hazard.

The fact he needed a trainer at all...

Peatling looked a bit sore to me, and TOG might reflect that. He plays a pretty combative game, a lot of bash and crash. Terrible is a bit rich though.

7 kicks, 3 handballs, 7 clangers, 2 tackles, 50% DE and fluffed it about four times (one of which cost us the first goal of the match).

Terrible is the perfect word to describe his performance on the night.

We've always been a side that fights out every match under Nicks.

We rarely got smashed but usually we'd put in a meek token effort to close the margin without ever threatening to win. Usually it would be after the opposition takes the foot off because they'd already won

Last night we erased their margin in half a quarter! It was a dominant statement to the competition that we are always in games, so don't for a second think you've won

A vast overreaction on your part id say.

No cause for concern at all.

Just like Fog hey

Hmmm nah

Fog did a few things. The first goal, the goal assist to Soligo were two bits of great bit of play. Just felt he struggled to get into the game last night.

But hey - if you don't think Peatling played a terrible game you either didnt watch the game or haven't seen much of Peatling so far this year.

We need to demolish west coast and North particularly if we lose to Collingwood because Geelong can catch our percentage if they win by 80 the next 4 games, which they probably Will
I doubt they hammer the Swans by that much at the SCG. I know we did, but they're a better side than when we played them.

I don't think he was terrible, but he certainly didn't have a great night

Terrible is saved (unfortunately) for a game like Cooks

Feels like Smith has been our best sub option this year, has been able to come in the game later and have some impact once the game has slowed down a bit.

I don’t think the other players who have come in as sub have been able to do that.
I agree through the finals he will be handy to have as Sub he is so experienced plus knows it's basically his last year. It's all or nothing for Brodie

Last night was Cook's chance to show wing is his role.

DC is taking on more midfield time. Not just CBA, but stoppage mid. Starting position Wing, but then chasing stoppages. What Rachele was doing and Murphy tried.

Not just patrolling the wing, ie a kick behind/ in front of play.

It is part of his midfield apprenticeship.

Cook had some genuine wing time. But struggled a bit.

Nah Peatling was awful last night, goes hard but skills were woeful last night. Hopefully that's out of his system. Let's face it he's never going to be a highly skilled player but he generally more than makes up for it with his effort and tenacity.

It was interesting watching the telecast. At one point it looked like Nicks was carrying on like a pork chop in the box, and Davis calmly reached over and put his hand on Nicks shoulder as if to calm him down.
He’s done this a lot lately, seems to bring a very calm attitude to the box.
Right before the game started Nicks took a deep breath in and out and looked nervous as f***. Made me think the worse.

Besides the worst umpiring in a big game we have ever copped (2012 Prelim), the David Mackay in the back free against him in MCG at 2016 was the angriest I’ve seen Crows fans in Melb. Paul Roos called it the worst decision he’s ever seen. This was at the height of freekickhawthorn.
For a while Hawthorn games were just us turning up, and waiting to be rogered by the umps.

The Mackay one was a textbook tackle. Absolutely insane call. If you were presenting how to perfectly tackle someone safely and not fall into their back you'd show that tackle.

There's also the one in 2013 against Thommo virtually cost us the game too. We'd fought back to take the lead, Thommo v Hale in our forward line and he barely touched Hale in the arm to tell where he was (with his eyes on the footy), and took the mark. Razor Ray calls it a push in the back, then pays a 50 to double down, the Hawks walk it in for a goal and take the lead back. Momentum lost, 2 goal turn around, we lose by 11.

Oh, but we did get an apology for this one too. So all good.
