Pedlar turning into a bit of a teacher’s pet

Why not give Nank a go in that role? Or Dowling? Or even Schoenberg?
Would love to know what's going on with Dowling. Slotted in last year and seemed right at home in the AFL yet I don't know that he's even cracked the emergencies this year.

Peds is being given more opportunities than most. His form is clearly down on 2023 but is the sort of player that has finals written all over him. Not too many small blokes go harder at the pill and personally glad we are persisting.
Correct ....Pedlar is a perfect Finals type player

IMO watching him, it seems he needs a bit more composure ....not that he's panicking, moreso he's playing foot to the pedal footy, and that's been causing turnovers & giving free's away

It's good & bad .....a work-on to quote a particular coach

I would’ve rested 2-3 more players. I’m looking at Worrell, Rankine/Soligo and Keays/ANB

Cats needed 100 point wins against Dons and Tigers to be a realistic chance of catching our %. Last night has put them back a bit, so we should be rolling the dice and prioritising the weeks ahead. Surely there’s more than just Tex who would be improved with this weekend off.

Optus is going to be in atrocious condition tomorrow. We got 60 mill of rain hitting and Optus is notoriusly bad for retaining moisture. Its going to be one of those games when its slippery but you still need to wear hard caps because it will be drying off ontop.

I think you guys are insane to be bringing everyone over. Id be leaving more then Walker home.

Its the only time I agree with Murphy being near the team.

Traveling emergency is the best position for him. Would prefer others to get a full game in the SANFL.

What about backup for the travelling emergency?

May as well bring two players over just in case

Yes it reduces his chances of playing to practically zero and he can't play SANFL to build form. But both of those things are good outcomes

I would not be surprised if we make one or two late changes.

Come on down…………Lachie Murphy!

Hopefully we’d blow the $ and replace from outside the emergency list. Sadly, there’s nothing to learn from flogging west coast though. It’d be nice to see how we look with a player like Dowling up forward or in the midfield, but I already know the answer and it’s relevance to how it’d look against Hawks at the G is less than zero.

What are your thoughts regarding the week after - have you done a stat dive on heavy Optus and the following week

TBH I dont thimk the ground will ever be in a worse condition so hard to tell. As a footballer apart from massive holes in the ground the worst thing you can have is moisture underneath but none on top which is what it will be. Id be worried about injuries this week more then any other ive ever seen myself.

IMO we recruited ANB into the role that Dowling was playing in the side last year and then Cumming playing on one wing and Curtin on the other there isn’t the outside wing/HF role available for him, which is probably his best position.

I would’ve given him games instead of Murphy and even potentially Taylor as he showed a lot last year when we weren’t travelling that well.

OF these plenty of alternatives who play specifically the small pressure forward role? Seems to be the role that's getting Pedlar selected especially while Rachele is unavailable?
Cook was briefly OK on a wing but neither he or Pedlar are excelling as small forwards, and ANB and Keays are largely doing that role anyway.

Trying guys like Nankervis, Dowling, Draper even Shoenberg can’t be much worse and they’re more versatile in other positions should the need arise on the day.

Could you guys just forfeit so we at least get the points and no injuries 😆

Agreed on the last bit. Reckon he's shown more than Taylor thus far.

Even Cook is not your "classic" type small pressure forward and neither are any you've named. It's pretty obvious Pedlar is getting selected currently because he's the closesr player we have to Rachele.

Performance is everything

More likely ROB.

I dunno how many $100's of millions they spent on Optus, but they couldn't get the drainage better? :expressionless: :confusedv1:
Or has it got to do with the forthcoming Ashes?

Anyway, the Coaches will rest whomever needs it the most after 2.5-to-3/4 of slog and wading.
Nicks et al have got a lot right in the last 8-10 weeks and I'm starting to think that as a collective they're better at what they're doing,
uhhh,
except for dipping the same-shit-different-bucket into the Murphy well, again.

Looks like they're ALL-in on experienced-23 until Butts/Rachele/MM return. No new blood until next year now.
