Pedlar is getting selected on potential, which I am fine with.
From next year onwards he better pick up his form because he won’t be picked on potential anymore.

I don’t mind Pedlar, good things tend to happen when he is involved in the play whereas someone like Murphy hinders us or he crashes into teammates. Taylor has definitely overtaken him though. As soon as Rachele is ready, Pedlar will be gone.

IMO we recruited ANB into the role that Dowling was playing in the side last year and then Cumming playing on one wing and Curtin on the other there isn’t the outside wing/HF role available for him, which is probably his best position.
Yep, for what Dowling does, he's been squ-e-e-e-zed out.

I'm hoping we'll recruit a couple more experienced players like Peatling/Cumming/ANB so that we won't have to rely on fringe-AFL players in 2026.
eg does anyone know how hard the Club is chasing NWM?
"The Crows would at least have a first round pick in this year's AFL Draft to put on the table, something Port Adelaide do not possess, although future picks and current players could be used in the deal."

Also interesting:
I would’ve given him games instead of Murphy and even potentially Taylor as he showed a lot last year when we weren’t travelling that well.
I'd pick Dowling ahead of Murphy under any circumstance/need.

He's has basically no taste at all. Less than a few games of ordinary game time after being made the sub constantly.
If his body was AFL ready, he'd have more time. The last home game I saw him play, he came on and had several CBAs. They haven't been hiding him away in a non-statistical role "teaching him" something or other like they do with some players.

I'd back our development team in for preparing guns properly for AFL.

If all you want to do is appeal to authority, is there any value to having an account and posting? All we need to know is what they did, and we know what is correct.

We're to believe that his body got less AFL ready throughout the year are we? His body could withstand it in week one, but now our pick four is frail?

He wouldn't be the first, nor the last first year player tire late in a season.

With absolutely no evidence available that he's tired at all.

This isn't medical, it's not 'rest', and it's not 'unreadiness'.

People will contort themselves to avoid dealing with the only fact known: we're simply not picking him.

We've found ourselves in the mix, and as a result we've become more conservative in our selections. We don't trust a rookie now.

10 touches in the first quarter in the SANFL for Sid.

Although SANFL performance doesn't matter, that he's even playing is an amazing feat for a guy who's apparently both crippled, and chronically exhausted.

Equal highest ranked player on the ground, he needs an award for working through his disabilities!

He himself said about 6 weeks ago he saw the difference.

Im not against picking him, not at all, and what you say is right.... but its mountains out of molehills territory

Good god man I’d take Dowling over him even in a wheelchair

Based on that, surely you would then accept that he's simply not in the best 23

Or are you going to drift off into some tangents where at this stage of the season the MC starts gifting players games on some sort of intangibles you're going to make up in your head

This is also false

Arent intangibles those things that create a McLeod , a Goodwin or a Roo?

Sometimes its never about form or best 23 etc

Its that you believe in the player and that they have a long term future at the coalface?

Not having a crack, but I think you may have missed the point of my post

Personally I would have loved the club to get more game time into Draper this year

Roo would've eaten Draper for a snack, he was a man-child.

Bunjil was a 3rd year player when we made the finals in 97.

So I get what youre saying, but its a bit off.

Yep, the AFL draft is an imaginary intangible. Good thinking.

Yet one of the first things players are told when they enter clubs is that their draft number is just that, a number and has no bearing on guaranteeing selection

And if you believe that I'll sell you the harbour bridge

We have a history of holding back players drafted as midfielders. And the narrative is always about the tank.

lol .. if he was performing at a level that justified his selection right now, he'd be getting selected

You seem to think an under performing pick 4 should be gifted games in a top 4 team. I'd buy into this if we were a bottom 10 team with no chance of playing finals this year

For whatever reason, he didn't make the grade this year? Are you going rub one out and cum up with some sensational fantasy about why?
