We need to get another good ball user off half back in Simpson or Wagner into the team because when Clark is held we don't get the same drive..
Hell yeah. Banfield is no substitute, as we saw this game. Seemed to be the guy getting the ball in this role, and, much as I respect him, it is not suited to his skill set.

Tfft.

Good teams find a way to win when they are playing poorly.
Okay, but playing that poorly against teams like Port and Carlton (and North, Saints etc) does not bode well for when we play that poorly against actual finals bound teams when the whips are cracking. It's good that we won, but it's also reasonable to be concerned about conceding 8 ****ing goals in a qtr against an undermanned Poort and escaping with a win only thanks to Alex Pearce freakishness.

We played one of our most experienced sides of the year and we're still seeing these insane swings from qtr to qtr. We can't afford that from now on because the level of opposition is about to rise significantly.

I do not think this is a premiership side. However, this is a side that has had wild swings and found a way to beat… Collingwood. Gold Coast. GWS. Bulldogs. Hawthorn. Adelaide. That’s not a bad sign.

It's not unreasonable to state that the boys are tiring though. Youngest team on average for most (if not all) of the year - and we've built our biggest block of wins in the latter half of the year.

Contrast that to 2010, 2014-15 and 2022 when we burst out of the blocks and started tiring towards the end.

The average age of our side is similar to 2010 - I remember when Harvey rested the entire squad towards the end of the season, we won the last round of the year to lock in a home final, which we won.

I know it's not an excuse but surely has to be a factor.

I saw Alex Pearce look up briefly before he kicked which seemed odd - just read he was giving a little prayer to Dardy Mac to look after his kick. Special moment.

Has anyone checked in on that Zionist campaigner Ralph Horowitz since Alex Pearces heroics? And his grubby little sidekick Simon smith? Some sports ā€œjournosā€ they are.

No doubt they will be crying themselves to sleep whilst whinging to the afl about antisemitism or something.
Nah mate they just block anyone who brought it up

Another four points, from the grittiest team in the afl. Not a word commonly used to describe a Freo team. But this is a different beast. Leaders across all lines who refuse to lose, even when playing ugly football, away from home against a bogey team, facing some staggeringly bad umpiring (so bad even poor mild mannered Jlo had to have a dig, in his own way). A true captain’s mark and goal, called horribly by fox’s d-grade Adelaide team. Two clutch goals from our generational freak talent (who has signed on because who wants to leave this club right now). Erasmus looking like a bona fide afl player. Voss adding the mongrel we’ve been missing for 5 years.

Spare me the nit-picking. I believe in this team and I believe we can win it.

Unfortunately the shit commentary then exacerbates people's frustrations with umpiring.
Get sick of hearing commentators saying, yeah, it was a free, but not much in it.
Hey you fckn morons, it is a fvkn free, there is a lot in it. Fck wits

Credit to Erasmus I thought he scrapped hard all night and did some nice things.
We really need to be moving beyond Banfield and probably NOD too. They are just costing us too many cheap goals and brain fades. They do some nice things too at times but those type of players get exposed in the finals every year. JOM had a poor game too and his handballs at times were just not at the level required.

However the biggest concern for the coaches will be what to do with Bolton. He’s just a selfish player. I’m not sure how you manage a guy like this. We clearly need his talent and ability on the field, but his attitude is not at the level right now. If feels like we have 22 guys out there buying into the team mentality then there is this one guy doing whatever he likes whether it’s to the benefit of the team or not. It VERY nearly cost us tonight. Have seen it before in plenty of other sports even - that kind of shit wears very thin, very fast, with the other players.
I have absolutely no issue with one player being a bit more selfish, especially if they have earned the right to be.

Yep

Nothing wrong with Alex speaking out against the extremist Bibi regime. Whats happening over there is disgusting

We have an issue with some opposition clearances walking it through the front door. Butters often tonight.

I think it’s a tremendous win from the position we were in. Down about 15 and we clawed our way back.

Reid kicked 2 massive goals in the 3rd.
We are missing Young and Johnson massively. Fyfe certainly helps steady the clearances as well. It really is just a personnel issue. We're too small without those blokes.
