It’s a genuine shame we keep returning to that well. We could have gotten Nank going back there or debuted Edwards. Once Smith played 1, we knew where he was at and what he will bring. The cowardice is still there.
If he is sub it is ok.

But if he starts, unfortunate.

As opposed to the highly valuable consistent mediocrity served up by Smith and Murphy.
Smith's been pretty good in his games this year

I thought about it.

If Adelaide lose to the Pies and beat NM, then win their next 2 home games, they're in the GRAND FINAL!!

& Nankervis.

Its an unfortunate bi product of success. Most teams in the finals will have an excellent run injury wise. Which does tend to mean that several players miss out on getting an opportunity at the selection table. Its incredibly frustrating for them and for fans that want to see them given opportunities.

Isn't there also a real chance Burgess is currently our next in line ruckman due to McAndrew's injury?
Painfully, I think that would be Thilthorpe who took main ruck duties if ROB was injured. Though Burgess would almost certainly play and be the forward/ruck.

Hopefully ROB does not get injured.

There's absolutely no way we should take one of the best key forwards in the league out of the forward line

Due to our poor list management in this area, he's also our 2nd best ruck.

The guy dominates wherever he plays.

See I don't think that's right. I think he's the best ruck at the Club, he's just more valuable as a forward.

If he rucked full time he'd be the best in the Comp and could win a Brownlow (not suggesting that this would be the greatest value to the team)

Dowling and Edwards extremely stiff this year....
I think there are 2 big differences that has stopped them getting games.

1. We are contending and have been all year. So the spots available to let players develop for a block of 4-5 games is very limited
2. Our injury list has been small for the entire season (touch wood). We've not needed to delve too deeply into the SANFL list to cover injuries.

They'll both get their shot, and when they do its up to them to make it count. Cause the best 23 isn't gonna be any easier to crack in 2026.

The other thing is when they come in they will be ready similar to geelong they will have earned their spot and stay in the side once there
