Its a bone head decision, everyone nose it. Purely a decision designed to keep the young guys out of the side. This is what shit coaches do. Even if Murphy gets 20 disposals and 10 goals, it doesnt justify his selection after 99 shit games in a row and probably another 99 shit games before another one of these.

Mate, I think your in four a ribbing, its not 'nose', its nows.

Ginever asked Davis about Schoenberg being named as sub:

“No that’s not right, we’ve got up until an hour to name it”
“It’s on your website”

lol

“so is he sub?”
silence

He said before that Murphy was playing the Pedlar role which is a lie so it’s clearly Schoenberg

I'm glad they asked re: Draper and Dowling. Davis' answer was that Schoenberg and Murphy being travelling emergencies the week prior actually helped their case for selection because it meant they had "fresh legs".

So, yes, as I posted earlier in the thread, Dowling's mistake was taking the field in the first place.

Which means Dowling will replace Murphy next week……

How about when he said Murphy has been playing the Pedlar role

Obviously a tiny sample size, but we're 14-3 without him, and 2-2 with him this year.

Coincidence? Maybe. The two losses with him have been by 1 point and 3 points. He'd played a full match in both of those. Would a different player have made a difference?

He has provided us with more injuries than goals this year. In his most recent match he somehow managed three clangers from his two disposals.

Ok, whilst I’ll accept Murray Davis reasoning the one thing potentially overlooked is Collingwood do have Wil Parker (7 games) and Edward Allan (14 games) playing and neither has set the world on fire.

Also missing Bobby Hill is massive for them so I’m more confident we will get the chocolates.

Its never your top 10-15 players you have to consider, its your bottom 6-8 players. They are the ones of most importance.

It’s great to see that everyone is up and about.

Whilst not my preferred changes, they were pretty easy to anticipate once Pedlar was injured (again).

The Sub
We seem to prefer a player who can come on as an inside mid, apply pressure in the clearances and speed from the stoppages. Chayce looked good when moved into the midfield in the SANFL but has struggled in the AFL. Clearly Crouch is not match fit for AFL so Schoenberg is the next man up. I would have preferred Draper but it is probably a toss of the coin. I was hoping to see Dowling but he has been playing predominantly on the outside in the Twos. Fantastic game last week but prior to playing the hapless Panthers he was only averaging 20 disposals a match.

Tex for Burgess - Big Gain

Smith for Laird - Imho a significant downgrade
The other options for a rebounding defender from the Twos are Sholl (nup) and Edwards. I would like to see Edwards given a run sooner rather than later but replacing Michalanney with Bond does work against Edwards.

Replacing Pedlar with Murphy……..AYFJ?
The other options for a medium/small forward are
1) Cook; One touch playing a combination of wing and forward against Hawthorn doesn’t scream pick me.
2) Nankervis; one of my favourites but he really struggled in the AFL earlier this season. He has played well as a forward in the SANFL but has dropped off a bit recently.
3) Gallagher - Not yet
4) Welsh - Refer above

The other option is to try a midfielder in the forward role but we seem reluctant to go down this pathway.

I will simply have to borrow some Prozac from someone, sit back and enjoy game 120.

Ned says hi!!!
Ned had the luxury of being a potentially blown 1st round pick in a superdraft to lean on to get that kind of leniency (guilt)... Murph doesn't even have that.

I'm still buggered if I know what he actually has to get this kind of leverage.

He's been playing the Pedlar role of offering negligible value to our senior side, I guess.
Pedlar has actually managed to kick goals this year (as a forward who's main job is to, you know, kick goals) and gain rather minimal possessions at AFL level, which in direct comparison to Murph's massive total of...

What again exactly?

Split time between Draper in the middle and Rankine in the middle. Or Dowling who has done the split role for us previously last year, and is coming off of a shit-hot game.

Cook had one great game.. got injured... came back and had a bad one, and got dropped immediately.

How are any of these possibly worse than Murphy? Let alone most other options anyone can think of?

I hope you have an open bar like I do this Saturday night. Everyone might need it. :embarrassedv1:

What role has Murphy been playing in the SANFL? How has he gone in the AFL this year?

Easy to anticipate because Nicks is a moron.

Dowling could easily play Murphy’s role and kick more than 35 metres providing another scoring option.

"Just keep performing and you'll get your chance... No not like that. Now you'll be too tired."

So over the last two years, we've played 23 games without him (for 17 wins and a draw) and 21 games with him (for 7 wins).
lol, win rate 2.2 times higher without Murph

How does 1 play have such power over us?? This has gotta be more aberrant than the normal last picked player
