Out:
Jones, really disappointed. He had a half to get into the game but seemed to be tagging Kelly who went even better with JChayce on him.
Burgess, even if he had nailed 2 goals he would still be out. Still a worthwhile player to have on the list though.
Peatling if he doesn't come up.

In:
Tex
Dowling
Crouch for Peatling

Fairly obvious, but is it?

Burgess worthwhile on the list? He clearly showed today he isn’t an AFL footballer

Reckon Dowling would be a good addition.

Collingwood would have scouted us heavily. Throwing in an unknown might challenge them a bit.

Jones - 5 weeks as sub ?? Can't be easy. I spoke to a current player today and he said most players would've kicked up a fuss. Chayce doesnt. But its time to move on, and I hate saying it.
I hate agreeing, but his time's up.
Bye Jones, I've been an advocate but it's just never going to happen.
Yeah, it seems that way. I was hoping he'd have made it by now :sadv1:.

I have been saying this for so long!

Burgess is too slow for AFL, which he can get away with at SANFL level.

Which is why putting any games into him is a waste.

Tough on Burgess but holy shivs he was horrid, Jones sadly done he's had enough chances even though I was an advocate.

Out
Burgess, Jones, Murray

In
Walker, Dowling, Big butts

Easy changes are Tex for Burgess and Dowling for Jones, which are a given imo.

Murray is on notice, Butts was in better form than this before his injury.

Hopefully Peatling’s corky is nothing major and was just a precautionary subbing.

Pretty easy this week, pending Peatling.

Outs

Burgess - Delivery was poor most of the day but even when it wasn't, Chris was. I felt for him, it was his one chance but he tightened up so badly.

Jones - 5 weeks as sub ?? Can't be easy. I spoke to a current player today and he said most players would've kicked up a fuss. Chayce doesnt. But its time to move on, and I hate saying it.

Murray - In a big final you cant have your 2 key defenders as ticking time bombs defensively. Keane offers more good than bad though.

Peatling - Assuming he's injured.

Ins

Tex - Self explanatory. The only good thing about today was that we didnt take him.

Dowling - You cant ignore a 40 and 2 game. You just cant.... or you shouldn't.

Butts - We lose a bit on offence, but we gain a solid defensive presence and a guy who knows his limitations.

Smith - in the event Peatling is managed, Smith takes the vest. Being realistic here rather than what id like to see, but we might see Crouch.
Keane still had 11 intercepts today and was very important in the 4th. Miles ahead of Murray.

I think Murray gets one more chance and if we see that performance again, Butts takes his spot heading into North and finals.

We should have known that well before today. Those calling for his inclusion can't have seen much of him. Doesn't create, doesn't chase, doesn't tackle.
No doubt they wanted to play Toby Murray in a game like today but his injury has meant they’re taking it easy with him (he’s been on the emergency list already earlier this season). Burgess was our best KPF at sanfl level and was only needed for this week, the selection made sense. His marking was good but gee he froze in front of the big sticks, have to find someone else for this depth role next year.

Shit, half our side needs delisting then.

That's not true though. Most of our side can perform a role in a pressure game and have proven it at AFL level

Burgess has never performed well for us in a pressure game like this and can't be trusted to just "play his role" in a final

Contrast that to someone else out of the current side like Butts who has performed a role in big games

Strange to see Laird's name popping up. He is absolutely elite at mopping up groundballs in defensive 50. His disposal will never be outstanding, but he gets us out of trouble far more than he gets us into it, and it's not as if he's only getting cheap possessions - he wins contested ball. Boy oh boy am I glad that he's out of the midfield, but he's in my best 22 as a small defender every day of the week.

I can't defend Jones this week, however. Let's give Dowling another crack.
