Collingwoods 'Grand Final' this weekend according to Bucks on SEN. I cant see how it doesnt mean a helluva lot more to them than us. If they lose they are playing an elimination final. Howe out is big for them. I would be confident if we hadnt played in Perth and with 3 days less recovery time. I think it will be close again and a Pies win wouldnt surprise

IMO Whateley has some quality guests at 930am a number of days inc Bucks, Phil Davis, Adam Simpson and Sando. They talk strategically and in depth from a coaching perspective. Totally incomparable to Roweys show
The commentators are saying that Collingwood have slowed greatly. Pendleberry, Crisp, Mitchell et al are being beaten with speed. This makes Peatling a sad loss for us but might result in more Izak around the ball.

They also spotted the clever use by hawthorn of their ruck in the chain through the corridor as Cameron was regularly head back to help out a shorter backline.

I wonder if we're brave enough to pass to an unmanned ROB in the centre of the ground?

Why not, ROB's field kicking looked OK yesterday in a pressure game?

Better than Murray's anyhow.

OK so you dont agree that he has secured his spot now for a few more weeks? Who would you replace him with as a forward pocket?

Reckon both him and Taylor are locked in and only Rachele will unseat one at this stage of the season. Had either stunk it up, maybe the give Dowling or Draper a go, but I don’t think that’s going to happen now. Either could get in when Jones is dropped this week though.

Yep agree looked very slow esp in midfield. I noticed the Hawks trying to run the ball thru the corridor and Pies couldnt keep up with them. With our strong runners off half back, wingers and high half forwards we could possibly do the same even without the express pace

Is Peatling a confirmed out? Love how he goes about it and love how he draws so many head high frees by NOT ducking but picking the ball up with his head low and continuing at the same level. Would infuriate oppo fans but I picked up on him doing this even when at Giants

Pies did look crappy against Hawks and their defence was terrible. Big bad Billy was atrocious and many others like Quaynor, Houston and even Moore is down on confidence. Ideally this is where we can dominate them and get on top early

It's the eternity it takes for the ball to reach his foot that worries me. With time available, I agree his stab passing is actually quite okay.

Maybe we use ROB as the marking target and tell junior or hinge to be on their bikes running past when they see this play unfolding.

Is he the most uncoordinated handballer you have ever seen? Like someone has to try hard to be as awkward with the ball in hand as big ROB. His kicking has definitely improved a LOT. Still remember a couple of his first attempts at goal haha

One of the contestants on Lou’s handball last weekend had appalling technique. Started to forward movement from right behind the ball. First I thought his opposite hand was horrific, but then he had the exact same technique on the other hand.

Matt Kennedy

Had a very good year for the Dogs FWIW.

Out: Burgess Jones Peatling (inj/managed)
In: Walker Dowling Crouch (make him or break him now, can't wait for a final to find out. Still reckon he'd be value in finals - clearances, clean hands, experience, tough - others will disagree.)

Cant suggest Crouch gets selected on here dude. The anti Crouch brigade get offended when people point out his value. Im with you, I do think Crouch is more than likely to get selected and should be selected.

Hope Dowling gets a run. The kid probably should have played all season. Maybe someone has some goss on why he hasnt been selected. Did he piss off the coaches?

When I switched it on, kind of looked like they were playing bruise free footy. Hawthorn just appeared to have so much space which is usually an indication of no hard defensive run or pressure. This will be a good test for us though, they will come at us hard.

Pedlar looked to be struggling with his left shoulder late in the game, he couldn't even raise it during the team song in the rooms. Assume this might be an injury he is able to play through and will have the required end of season operation.

We as supporters are easily pleased.
Sure Pedlar did kick 3 goals but Taylor was the one who demonstrated the level of effort required.
Pedlar's chasing is half hearted, he really doesn't put in a real sustained effort at all.
If an opponent is near by he'll do what is required but his second efforts are poor. He's has talent but too often picks and chooses when to lift his intensity.
Watch how many times is he jogging around or on the periphery of a contest.
If Pedlar wants to cement a spot he needs to chase harder and for longer bursts with an increase in physicality.
The coaches would have all the sprint and chase stats.
You’d think players would know they can’t get away with it.

After he took a mark he immediately reached for his shoulder, I thought he was putting his shoulder tape back down that had come unstuck, maybe this was when it happened?
