Just a little thing that's bothering me more than it should.Has anyone else noticed that as we've climbed the ladder this year, there's been an increase among the commentators referencing the "Crow throw" game against Fitzroy in 1991.

I swear I've heard it mentioned every game we've played the last month or so. I can't understand why the commentators feel the need to bring up a game from that long ago where we had the rub of the green, yet fail to mention the more recent games where we've had the AFL admit we were on the wrong side of.
Even when Pies were throwing it, that dickhead Lyon referred to it as a "reverse Crow throw".

Oh but remember, he was "gushing" in the rooms and actually loves us.

What he was ‘trying’ to do is irrelevant. Umpires can’t make decisions based on their interpretation of intent, nobody intends to tackle high. It was a free kick, sometimes they fall our way.
So if someone throws it to an umpire but gets it wrong it’s time wasting?
It was silly by Thilthorpe but clearly he was trying to get it back to the umpire.

Can’t remember the exact words but it was something like “here we go” or “we are on here” when the pies were attacking in the final minutes.

I think it definitely can be, just to get that close loss to Collingwood monkey off our back. Don't need that hanging around if we play them in the finals.

I’m referring to me sitting on the couch, not the players. It was a bit like the Port and Lions last quarters where we’re constantly defending and relying on misses or crap entries. We’ll have 3 finals pressure games to get through to win the flag, beating Pies at home like that hasn’t moved the needle. But I’d be saying the same if we lost by a goal.

When a player has 1 tackle and 9 pressure acts it’s not the result of them that influences an opposition player having a quiet match.

The Clappers are clutching at straws, they've swallowed Roos justification for Murphy playing.

Daicos had the same disposals as last week perhaps he's in a form slump.

Plus our record low inside 50s didn't allow them to run it out of their defense as often as usual. This is where he usually racks up alot of his uncontested possessions.

Due to pressure though
The hawks game and this game were finals like and we stood up.

Did anyone watch the Fox review show after the game? They showed an incident when Tex's young boys were kicking the ball (I think after the game) and the ball hit one of them on the head. Tears were shed. When the team was singing the song, Tex was holding the young lad, who had his head buried in his Dad's shoulder.

Is there any way of watching that after match show again?

I’d bring Max in as the “small” forward/lockdown presssure forward to play on the opps half back.

Replace Murphy.

But I dont think Max will be back next week regardless.

Max plays very well on both smalls and talls.

And has proven he can hit the scoreboard at the same time.
In the week B4 the first round of Finals (gap week) ....are the SANFL playing ?

Will be the perfect lead in game for Max

Was he? How do you know that? What we know is that it was a dead ball and he kicked it away from the umpire. That’s a free kick against. It’s why players are careful when returning the ball to umps or oppo players because there’s a penalty for getting it wrong.

There’s enough pictures from other angles to show that.
It also went straight to an umpire.

Media is catching all the random tweets and voicegrabs on the umpiring going against Collingwood.

Didn't seem to make a difference when we whinged but you better believe itll work for Collingwood. Wouldn't want to face them in finals with umpires going out thinking they need to settle a score
The only reason we got a good run last night was because we got absolutely stiffed in the first quarter. The umpire fuelled Q1 was the only time of the game Collingwood looked any good.

The crowd got riled up, the umpires knew they'd screwed up and they spent the rest of the game compensating. Just balancing out errors with more errors.

They're inept and so badly coached it's almost indescribable.

Has anyone noticed the convoluted system they've developed this season where they umpire in pairs? One makes the decision, the other is on the other side of the play and comes in to bounce the ball / set the mark. They have to check with each other to see if the other umpire recommends a different decision. It's why there's been an increase in "out of zone" free kicks paid this season. It's by design.

A complex, intricate waste of time (for no benefit) that requires extensive training and coordination. They would have spent countless hours perfecting this dance during the preseason and it's the only thing they would be working on now, honing their craft.

Decision making? There's no time for that.

So you’re rationalising an obvious free kick missed against us? That’s why it’s hard to take the constant complaining seriously, when it’s our way you’ll argue that it didn’t matter, or worse, wasn’t a free kick at all. That’s a free kick all day every day.
You said you watched from the couch so may have looked like a free kick. Camera at 90 degrees shows him trying to flick it up to the boundary umpire.
