Agree, if he can stay fit. He’s an old fashioned footballer who likes the tough stuffPedlar kicked 3 goals in his last game.
He likes it when the heat is on & imo will be suited to finals pressure.

Agree that Milera and Max have some x-factor that we could use in different spots. Good callI really think the coaches need to sit down and work out which area we have the best depth in.. forward line is getting thin with options...if I was coach, I would pull Milera out off half back and flick him forward as the X factor with small stints through middle aka Rankine (I know Milera has been getting better through the year and is playing great footy right now but it would be worth a look) with laird, hinge, cumming, worrel too a degree Smith and nankervis plus with Max coming back in soon 1st final this position is the crows absolute strength. Wouldn't be dropping bond if possible thought he has done a great job since in, plus could release max to be more attacking off half back. Happy with Dowling and Draper in this week
That Vision iis a perfect illustration of what Murphy was supposed to do (he didn’t succeed every time). Often Josh Daicos is a free target against other teams and against us earlier in the year. The idea is to have his “tagger” within a couple of metres of him when Collingwood have the ball. Since it was wet, slippery conditions there is an increased level of risk using him.
My frustration was that after our first win against Collingwood in a decade AND winning our 12th game at Adelaide Oval this season AND locking in a top Two spot, I went to the GBU thread. Was it a celebration of what we have achieved? Was it a discussion about the tactics used by both sides? NO, there was a bunch of posts boasting “Hey, look at me, I told you Murphy was shit”.
So sad, the lives of some people.
Regarding the video, that was probably the most interesting aspect of the game. In matches against other top nine teams it has been very rare this year for either side to use a plus one in defence. The last main example was when we played Geelong. Eventually both teams went back to the early 2020s with a plus one for both sides. It looked like we initially held an extra man at the stoppages but once Collingwood got on top we decided to use a plus one in defence. I will be surprised if we have an extra man in defence this week and even more surprised if we “tag” any of their defenders.

why is this always your go to?Were you at the match?
I guess that's a good thing, as it means none have a previous reputation for bias against Adelaide or towards another team?Never heard of any of them
Which means they will ensure they run hard to the right spots, do the little dance when they walk out, laugh at how they were shit at footy in high school and have no fn idea about decisions as long as they do good on the umpire report matrix to go up the ladder!Never heard of any of them
I didnt want to mention my brother took his grandson to the game on my ticket so they could BOTH go on the ground and get a jumper from a playerwhy is this always your go to?
I’m sorry but if all it took to quell him was for a player like Murphy to be near him, teams would be all over it.A tag has changed a bit since Neil Kerley in the 60’s.
Were you at the match?
Josh Daicos’s role is to set up Collingwood’s attacking moves from defence. By defence, I don’t mean specifically from D50 since players are not restricted to a 25 metre radius of their positions these days.
How do they do this GreyCrow? Josh Daicos usually has a lot of handball receives (e.g. from other players who receive a mark or a free kick) and short chip kicks from other defenders.
How do you reduce this GreyCrow? You have a player run close to him to increase the risk of providing the ball to him. You also man up on him in stoppages and when we have the ball you try to take him away from the action. You also don’t rotate players on him. As much as possible you want your tag to play exclusively on him.
Did you notice any of those things if you were at the match? If you watched it on tellie then go back and watch it again.
Just last week, they should have picked Sid instead of Murphy, knowing that Sid might need to be a part of our finals set up.
They should have given that quarter of footy to Dowling instead of Schoenberg. What was the point of that? Did they really need to see another dominant SANFL performance to know that Billy was ahead in the pecking order over Harry? That quarter of finals like pressure could have been invaluable to prepare Dowling for the next month. Instead we gave it to Schoenberg for as far as I can tell was a last hurrah for him?
Last week, they 100% should have been thinking “who are the players we might need in finals?” And picked them.
They also knew Murphy was probably going to be part of our finals set up, until the Rankine suspension happened (and probably will be regardless, seeing it's only one injury away). We had no reason whatsoever to explore anything different to what we were doing because we had won 10 of the last 11 and were fantastic defensively. My guess is both inclusions come from us deciding to change our structure due to that suspension instead of two players we genuinely wanted to use for this finals series. Seeing how much of a departure Dowling's recall is from the depth chart, and that we've opted to retain an additional defender.
The point of giving that quarter to Schoenberg? The same as giving it to Dowling this week. There are no long-term considerations seeing these are two players who aren't star prospects, and we just needed a body to get through that game. Considering how we've selected, Harry was just the next in line for inside midfield (and it's quite likely we don't see Dowling as an inside midfielder at AFL level). It's worth noting that Dowling isn't important to our finals run, much like Schoenberg/Murphy/Cook/Taylor/Bond etc (whoever you want to list who are in the 18-22 slots) aren't important to it. They're just interchangeable pieces to help a system to work. If Dowling gets finals games? Great, if not it's just going to be someone else at a similar level. Finals are won by your stars, not the bottom of your lineup, they're just there to give your stars the best shot at winning games of football (same as the regular season).
