Do you think the Crows will bring Sid Draper into the 23 this week?

I'd be resting Thilthorpe, definitely. Get him absolutely cherry ripe.
This I agree with, especially with how he was grabbing his shoulder in the last.

But don't bring in Burgess. Two talls is fine. Give Nank a run.

Flogged in clearances again, asking a lot of Keane and Worrell to save our arse every week.

Murphy out
Shoenberg out
Berry sub

Crouch in
Dowling in
Crouch won't even be considered still playing through a niggle with his hip so much so he was pulled out of the SANFL today, Dowling would be the only possible in for Schoenberg.

There is a mountain of evidence over this season to say our gameplan does not require winning clearances to win overall

Just got a message from a friend. I have no way of knowing how true it is- he's honest, but it's come from a friend of a friend of his, who s on the fitness staff. Apparently we have been in a heavy training load for 4 weeks.

So, 4th hand news, but it's interesting.

Most clubs going into finals will do a top up mini pre season.

Considering the form of most of the top 8 have been hit and miss over the last month it wouldnt surprise me if nearly all of them had upped their work load on the training track.

I maintain it doesn't mean that much now, we basically broke even in the 2017 GF against Richmond in clearances but lost by 8 goals.

It's all about transition and efficiency at scoring now. If there is a team we are playing who has a vastly superior midfield, why would we try and compete with them and beat them there? Our forward line and backline are the best in the competition.

Thilthorpe isn’t being rested. There’s a rest the following week. He doesn’t need a fortnight off, and neither does anyone else. It’s nonsense. The pre-finals bye itself is nonsense, but it exists because some clown coaches rested up to 10 players prior to finals and the AFL hated the optics of it. No coach wants any of their prime movers going into a qualifying final having not played a game for 20-21 days. It’s stupid.

The questions that actually need to be asked regarding selection are…

1) Will Nicks and co inexplicably find a way to once again select Murphy and/or Schoenberg over Dowling? Like most others, I would drop both and absolutely select Dowling, but what are the odds of this actually happening?

2) Will Laird returning against North (which is the only definite thing we know) simply mean Smith drops out of the side, or is there any way Brodie is retained as the sub? I’d drop Smith. I just don’t see the point in having a back half player as the sub. Ever.

3) Are any of Nankervis, Cook or Draper a chance of squeezing in to play North, even if it’s just as the sub? Something tells me none of them will be in the 22, but maybe one of them gets a gig as the sub?

4) Is there any reality in which Butts is preferred over N Murray for the North game and finals? This is a really tough call. Gun to my head, I’m actually dropping Murray for the qualifying final, but I don’t envy the selectors here.

5) Is Taylor, who was subbed out instead of Murphy, any chance of being dropped or relegated to the sub role? Taylor would be anchored in the starting 22 if I had anything to do with it. The only time his name should even come into the conversation to be potentially relegated to the sub role is when Rachele is ready to return.

Sounded to me like Nicks was pretty clear in the post-match press conference that nobody would be managed unless they weren’t right to play given the bye the week after. Given the aim would be another week off before the prelim that seems to make sense.

With that in mind I think Laird will definitely come back and I think Dowling gets a game. Berry is under some risk. He’s also been our best sub this year and Schoenberg didn’t do anything, so I’d consider maybe moving him to sub and playing someone else through the middle if possible. Dowling is the obvious choice there.

Based on that I’m guessing something like:
In: Laird, Dowling
Out: Smith, Schoenberg

And Murphy survives unless Pedlar is fit. If he is they make that change too.
