Our average age was higher because we trotted out a 37 and 33 year old. That's why average is a terrible measure of how young a side is - you can have a higher average purely off the back of two outliers. If you use median as your measure, we had way more youth out there than you.

Goldy absolutely bumps it up but it also shows we have a young side out there too. Shiel would be similar to Cripps? Haynes is 33 for us too.

My point is our side at the moment isn’t as mature as you think with plenty of first year players out there.

I think we will see how ruthless Scott really is.
Hobbs, Shiel, Gresham, Goldstein, Menzies, Davey, McMahon and smartt should be given the flick
Guelfi, laverde, lual would be under pressure.
I would offer laverde and cox rookie spots.
If we move on Gresham then Guelfi stays for sure.
If Langford or parish want to leave let them.
If tsatas wants to leave and we can get something for him so be it.
If Draper leaves we squeal like st kilda did to get a first round pick.
If Zac merrett wants to leave and we get offered something decent I think he desrves a chance to play in a premiership side. I have heard the hawks might make a play for him.

A whole bunch of regular whipping boys did themselves a disservice tonight. If the coaching panel doesn't make the clear delistings when the time comes then they should look over their shoulder for their own delisting.

Probably the worst season I can remember watching. Not sure I see a huge an amount of light at the end of the tunnel. Caddy and Kako look like A grade youngsters. Not enough else shown that any others at near that level.

Carlton were pretty young tonight too and smashed us. We fought it out but have exposed a lot of dead wood with all these injuries.

Hopefully that’s the last of Menzie. He isnt up to it when it was arguable he was 2 years ago. Shiel just has not been able to hit the side of a dunny door his whole career & tonight was a microcosm of his career.

Bringing effort to a football match is like bringing your boots. No one praises you for bringing your boots. It is a necessity. A minimum requirement. If you don't have it, you cannot play.

It was trash. A few of our players showed a bit, but more didn’t and here we find ourselves; with a fairly shit loss in a game we should have been a chance in.

Because Carlton are also garbage, and unlike us they were not meant to be this year.

Merrett, one of the best players I’ve seen pull on the red and black, deserved more.

Anyway **** Carlton and one game to go.

Carlton dreadful, Essendon falling over the finish line in stages. Both supporter bases hated the entire thing and were united by fits of some of the worst umpiring you will ever see.

**** heads sitting behind me making vaguely sexist remarks about the boundary umpires and vaguely racist remarks about Lual to top it all off. In the members no less.

Watching live gives you great perspective on the players that are worth persisting with and the ones that are not.

Says a lot about the positive development growth that Kako, Lual and Clarke had their best games (Johnson able to impact a lot as well) this late in the season.

Normally our kids are well burnt out by this stage.

Was fine until the last few minutes where they pulled out 3 high tackles to Carlton, none of them were high.
