What's the story with Rankine? Is there a factual report on his hammy?

It was a lttle strange at the game when it looked for all the world as if Soligo was going to be subbed, looking a bit sore, but then it suddenly morphed into Rankine. That would be consistent with hamstring awareness, I suppose, but he looked very happy on the bench and afterwards, and was moving smoothly enough.

Which is a good thing

I'm not so focused on sub - if its Draper and we kick 20+ again then so be it

But I would hope the brains are looking for a full game for him soon

North is a good game for him to play a full game. Laird is a veteran, make him sub.

Win that and the year gets interesting.

Stopping Ben King will be important.

See only one issue at moment: Nankervis >>Cumming from what he has produced. Can't see an argument. Peatling ok hopefully more games will impress me more. Keane and M Couch made some big clangers along with the Soligo trying to doge 2 tacklers.

I think we will see the best of Cumming in the second half of the season provided he doesn’t get injured. He doesn’t look as sharp as the rest of the team at this stage. Having said that he played ok last week.

Draper needs to play a full game vs North. He is clearly AFL ready. I don’t think we will lose anything starting him and making Peatling the sub for a week.

I can't imagine there will be any unforced changes. The team won by ten goals, and there was no reserves match. The only likely outs would be Draper or Rankine if they're a bit sore. But my guess is we will be unchanged.

Club has reported he was ok & just being managed.

Was walking around fine after the game.

I rate Nankervis & would have him in front of Milera, but Cumming is ahead of both.

The issue with Cumming is an interrupted preseason, so we should consider managing him.

No risking any players vs NM so if Rankine or Draper need a week off, do it.

We need to keep giving Keane opportunities to grow his game. I can see this position up for debate as the season progresses. The upside of Keane is worth persisting with.

I disagree with the Butts for Keane move. Losing any form of attacking drive from your defensive unit is a disaster as that's what controls your outside game.

Seeing we've cut up two middling teams, it's likely a case of don't fix what isn't broke.

We shouldn't be relying on a KPD for attacking play.

No, we should be. After all, we are talking about a position that when done correctly generates a lot of intercepts and any position that generates a lot of intercepts has a key part to play in helping an offense hum.

Milera and Laird are there to be attacking options out of defense

Problem is laird is not an attacking defender... milera is building... starting to get his evasiveness and vision back. He is best when he gets confidence and he doesn't have to pay so accountable.

I'm ok with picking Keane against teams with few to no key forwards like Essendon today and the Saints last week, but I don't have a lot of faith in him against some of the best in the game. Next week against Larkey will be one to watch. We should still win easily, but if he gets towelled up, then we really need to look at bringing Butts in for our games against GC (King) and Geelong (Cameron). He may not offer much offensively like Keane does, but he's a much better 1v1 defender.
