Preview R4: Changes vs. Fremantle

Dowling plays a different role to Pedlar. Attacking wing or accumulating midfielder, as opposed to Pedlar playing as a pressure forward or a clearance player.

For now, Pedlar is being kept out of the clearance mid role by better players, and fair enough. But there is a spot for him up forward in our current side. If we have a better mid-sized forward in the wings, then by all means replace him.
Dowling played a lot of junior footy forward of the ball, Pedlar played very little.

I thought we would eventually trial this. McAndrew has a great leap tap. Rob is very good at ball ups or throw ins with physical strength, so the two can play different roles. Remember we used to do this years ago. Pitman and Rehn played together too.
Big difference is both Pittman & Rehn were capable of playing in key position roles.

Whereas neither McAndrew or ROB are capable of playing in a position other than ruckman, so 1 will be on the bench at all times... which limits our options.

Watching 9 news tonight.
Fog anf Filthy didn't get thru the captains run today.
Both lower backs, Fog looking quite hampered by his.
Given Fogarty's form, I would not be risking him if he is struggling with injury.

Good is we are going to probably use Cook as a defender which will help with a ball movement.

Bad selecting 2 players who can only ruck

Will be interesting to see who is used on the wing with Cumming.

Put Pedler at the HBF or somewhere he can actually get involved in the game.
Nix just needs to relax the shackles and let him get up the ground a bit. Nix seems happy with seven possies and pressure or he wouldn't be keeping his spot. To sacrifice so much for shape seems like another bone head Nix call.

I see we are still running with the same stacked midfield of ours
Hopefully some of our mids might get over 15 possessions this week and hold the opposition to less than 40?
A smart coach would tag Serong as Freo struggle when his influence is curbed.

If only we had tagged Bailey Smith last week......

We have been thrashed in the midfield every week this year, I cant believe we aren't trying something different
VB may be have a high IQ, but a low footy strategic brain. Nicks the same, except doesn’t have the high IQ.

Makes sense with 2 rucks against Freo - they have Darcy and Jackson and have a bunch of taller players. But to be fair, I would have stuck with Maley as he can mark the ball in traffic too

You watch our coaches get ambushed again this week when Serong, jackson and bolton are Freo's best and most damaging players

So when Darcy & Jackson line up in the centre square, how does having a 2nd ruckman help us?

When Jackson ventures forward, how does playing ROB help us?

A good coach would match it, you throw Darcy and Jackson there, we throw O'Brien and Thilthorpe there whilst 210cm McAndrew is in the goal square
Reckon I would prefer Rankine or Tex in the goal square.

2nd ruckman on the field is useless, particularly in the goal square.
