I wouldn't be opposed to some sweeping changes just to get some of the depth out of our side. As good as Dowling and Edwards have been, bringing them in at the expense of more experience players will just backfire.
OUT:
- Pedlar (Concussion saves him from being dropped anyway)
- ROB (forever, I'm genuinely a better kick than this guy)
- Jones (forever and ever)
- Maley (I just don't quite see it like some on here do, a bad Fog game is still better than him. That awful kick from 50m in the dying minutes was embarrassing for a forward no matter your experience)
- Bond (No class, plays a role we don't need right now. Lock down 1v1 small defenders are a thing of the past. Needs to work on his offensive game in the SANFL)
- Taylor (Harshest one, I just don't see it in him, he'll never be a player that can find the footy consistently)
IN:
- Hinge (Need some class off half back alongside Milera, everyone else kicks it as far as possible with no thought)
- Laird (Missing a settled head down back that can at least find the football, probably frees Max up more to play looser)
- Cumming (Not playing that well but another experienced head who can just play his role more consistently)
- Fogarty (So important for structure, makes Tex's and Thilthorpe's lives so much easier and at least we can still bank on him for a goal or 2 if he's not playing well. Added bonus this is the perfect game vs Carlton to maybe build some form)
- Draper (Perfect time to give him a run in the big leagues, weaker opponent on our home deck. We can't waste this opportunity)
- Dowling (I can see him doing exactly what Taylor does just better, personally I'm not sure why Taylor is ahead of him)
Keays and Soligo are definitely down on form but their bad games are better than some of our depth players good games. We're playing for flags, not rebuilding. Dropping Keays and Soligo for Dowling and Edwards as some have suggested would genuinely make me tip Carlton. Too much inexperience, last time we did that we lost to an awful Richmond side at home.
Laird doesn’t free anyone up to be more attacking, it’s the opposite.
