No sanfl this week as well due to gather round.
We know Pedlar is out and Laird will be in

Rob will be out. Dowling in

Jones out Cumming in

Keays out Edwards in

F. Taylor Thilthorpe Rankine
Hf Rachele Walker Neale Bullen
C. Cook Berry Cumming
Hb Laird Murray Milera
B. Max Borlase Worrell
R. McAndrew Peatling Dawson
I Edwards Dowling Maley Bond Soligo

No way Keays is out. Jones and ROB yes.

Gornes just said on 7 can’t blame ROB for trying to move it on quickly.

Sure. Could he do that and not kick into the man on the mark?
Can’t blame him for trying but we can for the execution.

So we already know how this game goes for the first 3 qtrs.
Carlton get out to a 5 goal lead at half time and we haul them in over the 3rd and start of the 4th, we’ll hit the front, I just don’t know how the ending goes.
Our first 3/4 playbooks match but the endings don’t.

He's clearly not building if you are truly watching our games!

We can't afford to carry passengers, particularly when we are losing.
This is where it gets back to my original point though. It's hard to drop him when there are players in this side who are just as much if not more of a passenger. Outside of the obvious Jones, ROB, Pedlar from the weekend. What does Bond even do? The imaginary role this fanbase has given him of disappearing to justify his selection? Taylor is playing practically as good as I can imagine he could possibly play and it's not even that good.

So you don't think our midfield is a major problem at the moment?

I don't care who the player is, but we can't afford to play a player who has been ordinary in 4 consecutive games & doesn’t look close to recapturing his form.

Unfortunately our coaching group prefer to double down on a clear mistake, than admit error & take corrective action.

Further, they will often look to justify a clear judgement error.

The best leaders realise when they have made a mistake & correct it asap.

Can't help stupid though...
So true. They seem to never be able to admit an error. That includes in press conferences where some of the blame surely has to be the coaching.

A problem sure, but not anymore of a problem than it was last year. And Dowling/Edwards absolutely are not a solution to that problem, if you think they are, you rate the SANFL too highly. If they comes in (let's be clear, I do want them to play just not at the expense of Soligo), they come in as a mid/fwd, mid/def types.

You say that you can't afford to field a player who has been ordinary for 4 weeks but you do realise no club in the league just willy-nilly starts dropping best-23 players after 4 poor weeks. I've seen some long strings of shit performances by players at all 17 other clubs. Start of last year Naughton was being spoken about as if he needed to be dropped or moved to half-back. By mid-year he found form, by the end of the year he was almost All-Australian. People need to settle down with all their crazy selection choices and start getting mad at Nicks for the things that are actually a problem. Not selection, but our god awful, boring, slow gameplan.

Backing the boys in would be ridiculous after Nicks presser

He was furious at the players and blamed them for the loss.

I know the guy has a tiny turkey brain but if you blame the players then select the same players the next week, you lose all right to complain that they can't follow the gameplan or whatever

You realise your posts are just getting longer with crazy ramblings.

If you don’t realiase our midfield is a problem & Soligo is massively struggling, I can't help you.

We are not in a position to carry passengers.

Nicks has long carried passengers. The problem is he is getting exposed because he is carrying more than the team can handle and he refuses to think outside the square.

In: Hinge, Edwards

Out: Pedlar (concussion), ROB

Id like to see Dowling but im not convinced Nicks is a fan. However the selection of Dowling above Edwards fits Nicks selection criteria.

16 players on the weekend played against Fremantle and all those players missing would have played against Fremantle. So which players is Nicks blaming. The 16 who played the final or the more likely scape goats everyone on this list but Rankine.

Cook
Bond
Maley
Borlase
Jones
Rankine
McAndrew

On Footy Classified just now, Nathan Brown showed vision of 3 or 4 Crows v Freo centre bounce plays.

He highlighted how every time, without exception, Rachelle was behind his opponent, usually Brayshaw, and everytime, Brayshaw or Serong won the ball and left him behind.

This was something I was pulling my hair out over during the game.

Van Berlo is showing his deficiencies as a midfield coach here. Our midfielders must be coached to get front position at ball ups. It’s this that has destroyed us in the last 3 games, and made us look second rate.

No doubt Soligo is struggling. Our fixture opens up and it's the perfect time to get these guys playing some better footy together to work into some form. Rankine needs it, Dawson needs it and Soligo needs it too.

We have 4 "passengers" we can make changes with this week before Soligo even needs to be considered in Jones, ROB, Pedlar and Bond.

We'll take stock after the Carlton game

If we lose to Carlton we may as well start planning for 2027.
