I'd say Gaff
I agree. Steffi (gaff) is spooked by his shadow
I’m starting to see that Johnson in for Taberner could work, if he is played as the forward/ruck as he is smart enough to drag a good defender away from the contest, & he has also shown he can be an adequate second ruck

Johnno replacing Duman set in stone? I certainly didn’t read the game nor the post-match that way at all.

Agreed where is that written ?

Duman showed plenty last night to suggest he is a keeper

You only have to look at Cerra and Brayshaw to appreciate what a run of 5 games brings

keep blooding the kids I say

I think the only change will be whoever comes in for tabs, likely Johnson swung forward.

No other tall on our list will have an impact up forward. Johnson probably won't either but at least he might be able to move their defence around with smart positioning.

I bet Mundy plays majority forward and is our best target.

He's really our only choice:'(

Cox in for tabs, Johnson in for Duman.

Ross wouldn't say someone is being managed then not pick him the next week. At least after last night Duman knows he's next cab off the rank.

We can’t afford Pearce to be rucking with Darling and Kennedy out there.

Cox or Apeness must come in we need a guy who can ruck but also take a mark. Have to keep McGovern honest

Not just the Darling/Kennedy thing, but we can't afford to have Pearce rucking against Naitanui/Lycett ... too much risk of injury, especially at centre bounces.

Did you miss the instruction Shane has to only go the fist ?
Shane drags Jeremy wide and if he doesn’t follow, then Kersten doubles back to him as an effective tagger.
Shane has no other aim than to neutralise McGovern in the air. The ultimate sacrificial role.

McGovern would still mark it.

As it’s a Freo home game I urge all folks with front row seats to buy burgers & chips & then wave them near the fence.
McLovin will be drawn to both, while gaff will seek out the chips, as that is what seagulls do.
Hold a selfie stick up to distract the hipster, masten. On second thoughts, scratch that, it isn’t bad if he gets the ball.
Yell out to number 27 that there is someone near him & he will crap his decks.
As for the Fijian high jumper, Sandi will thrash him as per usual.
Shruggy has been rendered useless with proper interpretation of the “too high” rule.
Heck, bring anyone in.
Maybe Steve O’Reilly to get him to the 100 games mark

Random suggestion let’s play Johnson as a negating forward on McGovern.

Essentially his role as a back man, but follow him around and spoil and attempted intercepted marks. He has the (slow) pace, smarts and height to go with him.

Johnson might pull down a few as well. Worse case our small forward fleet (Sonson, Crowden, Ballas and Cerra) will have crumbing opportunities.

WC play 2 rucks. Whoever comes in for tabs will need to pinch hit to help out Sandi. Road is so defensive he won’t want to upset the balance in back 6. That really leaves Cox Meeks or jones to get a run.

If they do drop Duman it will be a tough call but an old head may help for the derby

There’s an easier way; Don’t kick it long and high to where McGovern is.
If we must kick it to a pack with McGovern in it then don’t try and outmark him . Go the spoil for the crumbers.
Id play Banfield on McGovern. Banfiled has a giant leap (second at draft camp in standing jump) so he could spoil McGovern in the air. Bailey is a also smart enough to get dangerous and kick goals as well if he is not shown respect by his opponent. Jeremy has destroyed us in recent times. Closing him down is a key to victory for sure.

The player that comes in for Tabs has to be able to ruck for short periods against Lycett so I think it has to be Cox unless Apeness is more ready than we all seem to think.

In the midfield Langdon can play an accountable role on Shuey and Neale could go head to head with Gaff (who is playing an inside role predominately this year). If Brad Hill is fit perhaps he plays a game for Peel as it would be a bit of a risk (to play him straight away) after he had an injury in his last game and was also injured late in the preseason. Brayshaw could be rested if Brad is ready to go.

McGovern isn't fast but he still much faster that Johnson, can jump higher too.
I'd prefer Cox to come in if we're to play a tall defensive forward who pinch hits in the ruck.

McGovern actually is very quick. He is a bit of an optical illusion but registered the third or fourth quickest maximum speed time for all west coast players in the rounds where maximum speeds were tested via the GPS last year.

Has anyone seen Alex Pierce play FF/CHF? He has good height, pace and footy smarts. Could be the great key forward you have been dreaming about. Bring Johnson back to cover Darling. Hamling on Kennedy.

He was playing as a swing man for us before he broke his leg. Is very capable of going to FF/CHF but he's just way too good up back to move him.

Nice try buddy, Pearce is going to give Kennedy nothing next weekend

Have the feeling that Ross will bring Johnson back in for Tabs.

I think he and AP may swap as being FF. Hamling to start on Kennedy.
