Don't pretend you don't know him. He was tearing it up in the aflx until he got injured. He kicked 4 goals last week in the wafl. Would be an ideal replacement for Ryan of the Liam variety. Would run rings around Fyfe before he gets a chance to set his hair right.
Lol. So now a bloke who starred in an afl x game, would leave a brownlow medalist bamboozled.. think you’ve been drinking too much of your own bath water champ. Langdon ran down Lewis Jetta last pre season as well.. from a standing start.

Guys, why do I keep reading - let's send defender X to the forward line... NO! What is going through people's minds, why would break up our defense when it is working as well as it is.

If Cox was in better form he would be a certainty to replace Tabs. He may still do, but I'm not sure what to expect from him. I don't think I want to see Kersten coming in to play FF. Perhaps Apeness is a roughy to come in and park himself around the goal square. Would have massive concerns over his ability to run out a game though.

What terrible luck with injuries to talls. Taberner, Darcy, and Dixon injuries are very unfortunate right now.

On a side note, looking forward to seeing Bennell running around this weekend as well.

Edit: What about Hughes? Perhaps bring him in, swap Blakely to midfield, and station Mundy as a permanent forward?

How can you say "don't break up the defense" and then "swap Blakely to midfield" in the same post?

Nyhuis the shock forward.

Actually I am all for the Blakeley midfield/Mundy forward strategy.

We have a number of potential defenders (MJ, Nyhuis, Hughes) who could help engineer that, and an empty cupboard where our forwards should be.

Luke Strnadica disagrees.

He has a serious attitude problem which is why he was drafted later than expected. I have heard of him because my cousin coached him however, I would forgive most for having no idea who he is.

Touche.

Although, I don't see it as the same thing. A tall defender becoming a tall forward is not the same as shifting a mid/def to mid and a mid/fwd to fwd. It's not the same robbing Peter to pay Paul scenario.

That would be true if all players were the same - we clearly don't have anybody else like Connor so if we move him, it will effect the defense.

It's working, leave him there IMO. He'll be a midfielder in time.

Well something has to give. We have a structural problem leading into this game with no immediate or obvious solution. Like Gav said, the key forward cupboard is bare, so what's the solution?

I posted earlier in the thread that I think it will be Johnno for Tabs. As slow as he is these days he is smart and doesn't really need to dominate, just move Gov around to try and minimise the intercepts. Nobody else on the list is going to make Gov accountable.

It's a risk for sure, but frankly it is the best option if Ape and Darcy aren't ready to play. Nads, Jones, Meek will get monstered by Gov and Barrass. Cox is possible but his WAFL form aint great and he has been playing defense there anyway.

We don't have any good options up forward and changing the defense isn't going to make it any better. Mundy already spends a lot of time up forward and I expect that to continue as well.

Losing Taberner was structurally one if the worst players we could've lost. That said we dominated when he went off because we ran hard and hit targets leading up to the ball. In fact McCarthy was very good doing this too.

For me... worst case scenario is they put Pearce forward and bring in Johnson to play back.
Following that is bringing in Johnson and playing him forward.

I only see Taberner as the out and Johnson as the in. Doubt Brad Hill will get up.

I think we can stop speculating that Johnno will be coming in to replace Tabs. Injury report released today lists him as being rested for another week.

I stated earlier that I reckon it will be Tabs out, Jones in and I stick with that.

That's not from the club, that's AFL guess time

Who ever goes out for bhill would be pretty stiff you'd think. Gota play him if fit, who goes out though?

There's a few guys that could come in and contribute up forward if available and fit enough - Ape, Bennell, Johno even.
Realistically I don't see any of them playing though, so it's likely Mundy goes forward for a while. I love Mundy but can't really see him contending with the likes of Mcgovern in the air so we may really lack a target. There's a fair chance Fyfe gets sent forward for this game I'd say. Having said that we loolk better running the ball lately and maybe we can expose West coast with a smaller forward line by running the footy and honouring short leads rather than long bombs.

Would have to assume it's either Tucker or one of the young boys. Ballas has been good, but would probably prefer if it comes down to it that they hold Tucker over him. We do lack some real firepower down forward though, especially with Tabs down and Ballas pressure probably becomes increasingly important with our lack of marking options. It will be a tough call.

I wish our club would just put worst-case if they aren't sure. They would have an idea of when they might be back, but continue to cautiously put TBA. I find it quite irritating. They should know that Dixon is say 6-12 weeks away, so why not put that? Even if it is a large range, I would prefer that over everyone being listed as TBA.

Leaving supporters in suspense regarding how long players will be out for is not cool Freo, NOT cool.

Ross put a line through him in his presser last week for this week IIRC. We won't have to worry about it until next week.

It won't be Fyfe. If Johnno is having another week I'd say Cox is most likely given he has actually performed well in the past. Less of a risk compared to Jones or Meek.

Brad is still a chance. If he was ruled out he would not be listed as a test on the injury list.

Its forecasted for a nice day aswell so I think we need a tall, no love for Kirsten? Bhills listed as a test though...

He's the quickest player in the draft, for a start. Petruccelle ran 2.82 seconds for the 20-metre sprint at the start of the season at the TAC Cup testing day, and backed it up by winning the speed test at the NAB AFL Draft Combine with a time of 2.87 seconds (he hoped to go a little faster). Petruccelle is a player who uses that pace on the field, as well, regularly dashing down the wing and breaking the lines.
(Alf.com.au)

That's impressive, 0.05s faster than Crowden.

Here is video evidence:

..and that's with him built like a man, not a twig that kicks at 55% efficency in a competition that doesn't tag.
