Oh and I forgot to mention , we hate passing to a teammate much prefer kicking to a contest which we lose most of the time , wtf is coaching this team

I think we do try and pass it to a team mate.

Define try. Quintessential Egan, pops it up in the air, travels higher than farther. What has happened to Seymour? We are 1/2 to 1 second behind in everything we do it seems.

Try as in that’s the aim but miss by 10m

Teams have worked out if they can pressure Mon & Ellie, they have us covered in the midfield. Egan could have easily had a Lions jumper on, as most of her kicks & handballs went straight too them. We are too slow & skills are as bad as they can get. Major changes need to be made. Greiser is afraid of contact & many others don't have the ability to play the game.

Egan had 0 clangers what are you people even talking about? Did we watch the same game? Easily our best player today imo, contested beast. Dempsey on the other hand turned the ball over with half her disposals and she’s not even an inside player.
Such an appalling collective of skill , no one can take a mark , check some of experienced Egans efforts , lucky to create a passage of play more than two possessions long , most of the team detest physical contact , except hosko
If this team list remains as is , I couldn’t see us winning a game perhaps until tassie enter , then maybe , maybe

This is an extra bizarre comment as Greg had 10 tackles and Hosking had 1.

Overall nothing new this week, played ok for a half and a bit then capitulated. Can’t even fault any individual players our defensive structure just consistently gets carved up. And we don’t have anything threatening going the other way, just kick it to a contest and hope it falls our way.

Pretty much my thoughts.

I thought Egan was vastly better today. Other than Ellie and Mon, Greg is the only one who finds the ball. Next best accumulator is a long way back. Sure, we have to find better options but the pile on Greg this week is unwarranted.

I actually forgot to mention one thing we do do reasonably well is tackle , I saw Egan drop a simple mark on the wing , at that point I went an ironed some shirts instead , much more fun

Missed the game how did we go?
I was at the game but must admit didn’t have eyes on the last quarter as caught up with some friends.

The first quarter we weren’t penetrating with kicks of any depth I50 and our connection inside 50 is very ad hoc, we were lucky that Lions who were kicking with a slight breeze and were not able to put on scoreboard pressure. Effort and endeavour were there.

We had a bit of the ball and looked at our best for a quarter or two, that’s until the Lions remembered how to play their brand, ramp up pressure and use their speed and work rate to muscle teams out of it, culminating in a third quarter where we were outclassed.

It was evident that we have some issues with transition. We can hit some targets and even use chains to move from defence to the wider channels and by foot we are able to get it out of our defensive zone. On the defence we have good players back there who are quality AFLW defenders, Graham, Miller and Bacon and Lynch although I didn’t notice Lynch as much, sometimes in her role won’t end up with the ball but she played her pressure role. I wasn’t impressed with Gabby. We know she can play back but her reading of the play and marking in the good conditions was way off. It’s almost like she is carrying an injury and looks slow so there must be something going on as it is not like her at all. McLelland would be better option back than her atm.

I didn’t hear what happened with Bacon hopefully its not too serious are we are not down one of our better backs.

Transitioning to us is not going corridor as don’t have the skills with the way you need to hit players lace out and often with shorter weighted kicks, we must be instructed not to do this as low % for us so we look to kick away from congestion to open flanks and too often break down in chains by foot as the kick mark game is not our caper. We do support each other and I admired the way we butter up after errors, however the amount of energy that we burn up because the chain breaks down due to a kick skill error and we have to scramble and then we lose structure and make low % plays.

Brisbane showed us how to do this with pinpoint short kicks of 15 - 25m and move the ball through corridor with skill.

Our forwards are not being fed ball on a platter but when we do look ok with delivery inside 50 we are breaking down in marking contest and general contest at ground. All teams do at times, but we are missing a tall mobile marking target as we don’t compete in aerial contest the way other teams do. After today its evident we desperately need a couple of quality forwards asap, and after today I would put a line though Greiser as our no.1 forward target going forward and trade for or draft one as priority no. 1.
