Dawson absolutely comes in for Nankervis. Disappointed for Nank, but unfortunately he’s gone backwards and isn’t AFL standard. Tonight might be the end of him barring an injury outbreak I fear.

I’d say Soligo is more likely to play than Fog but perhaps they both get up.

1-2 of Cumming (who played the worst game of his career tonight and can’t possibly be fully fit), Pedlar (who just isn’t good at football), Keays (providing very little and skills are terrible), Taylor (difficult to impact when routinely being played horribly out of position) to drop out.

Personally I’d ditch Cumming if he’s unfit, or Pedlar if Cumming is fit but given a clear rocket and told to perform or get out.

Edwards gets another game but he’ll need an injury to stay in once Curtin comes back in 2-3 games time I sense.

Imo, Dawson probably should come in for Cumming.

But not sure we can get away with all our defenders lacking good ball use.

Ideally Nankervis moved back for Bond & we bring in someone like Draper.

Main question is who of Dawson, Soligo, and Fogarty are ready to come in.

Of the marginals in the 23 presently, Nank would easily be the first to come out. Taylor and Pedlar probably neck and neck in terms of next one to go - would be very harsh to drop Edwards off that debut, but both Taylor and Pedlar are ahead of him on the 'experience' we seem to cherish. Cumming should be on thin ice, but won't be.

If we want to bring in Fog we again have our unresolved 2nd Ruck issue.

How is Draper tracking in the twos?

Edwards holds his place, simple. Has shown more in 1 game than others in 20-30. Different positions and all but geez. big impact. Especially when we needed it in the 2nd quarter.

Out - Nankervis (looked out of sorts, poor defensive decisions)
In - Dawson

Taylor and Maley are basically seat warmers for Soligo and Fog at the moment. If they are ready to go then that's a straight swap. Maley needs to learn how to kick a football.

Bond was okay tonight but is basically just Mitch Hinge for the next few weeks so will likely hold his spot until then. Pedlar likewise but with Curtin. The other player on notice is Cumming.

Considering there’s a 5 day break between the Lions game and the Showdown, I would expect one of Thilthorpe (clearly in pain) or Walker (old af) to be managed this week. In fact I’m calling it. There is no chance they both play against Brisbane. None.

My best guess:
Out:
Nankervis (omitted) - put your house on this

Taylor (omitted) - **noting that I would absolutely drop both Pedlar and Cumming (and Keays and Bond) before Taylor but I sense the selectors have a different view. I hope I am wrong and Taylor is retained.

1 of Thilthorpe or Walker (managed)

In:
Dawson
Soligo
Fogarty (if fit) or T Murray

Doesn't seem like Fogarty is ready for a return

Does Thilthorpe have a breather this week? Looks wrecked. Taking forever to pick himself up from marking contests and then hobbling away. Still having an impact and is obviously a jet but we need our most important player at 100%

Brisbane trip followed by a 5 day break... bring Toby Murray in maybe? It's a loss regardless

Reckon Fog comes back through the SANFL.

Better off playing them against the better side in Brisbane off an 8 day break then resting them against a non-finalist

And if we were a good, successful club that’s what we would do.

But we’re not, so we’ll prioritise the derby / local bragging rights and avoiding chucking the managed player on a plane.

I think it's Nankervis for Dawson and probably no other changes unless Soligo is fit. If he is, it's Soligo for Pedlar I think.

Ideally I'd like to see Bond out and Edwards retained but not sure how to balance the side around that approach. Edwards will get another week or two but I don't see him getting a full-time midfield role with Dawson back in the side. Might be he plays off half-back for the most part.

There's a selection squeeze coming for sure with a lot of players to return over the next month. Pedlar, Taylor, Edwards and Cumming would all want to play well the next two weeks.

If fogarty is declared fit what should we do? Just bring him in and play all fog, tex, thilth, maley and mcandrew, drop maley and have to play a potentially hampared thilthorpe against 2 rucks or just dont play him at all. T Murray was good by all reports in the sanfl so he could be an option to.
