Apologies for the intrusion, but as a Blues supporters, with Silvagni out its ripe for exploitation by your three 3 headed monsters in Thilthorpe, Fox and Tex. At least one of them should get off the leash, as Weitering aside, that leaves Haynes (was v good last week but jury out on whether that form continues) and Gov (absolute liability for 1:1 role).

Also, Keays feasts on the blues (9 goals in the past 3 games) and the Blues are the Crows' bunny when playing in Adelaide - we seem do well against Port in SA but can't do jack$hit against the Crows.

Anyway, hoping for a good game and best of luck.

Didn't Borlase get completely worked over by Liam McBean in the SANFL before his injury as well? If he's a bad match-up for a 202cm SANFL Full Forward, do we really want to play him against a 204cm AFL Full Forward?

Probably played his worst game ever in the SANFL on the weekend but who knows what the selectors will do.

I'm no Smith fan by any stretch of the imagination, but is it that difficult to see why? Hinge is out which is a tonne of experience out the door so they're no doubt worried about the stability of the backline. Smith also has decent leg speed, very similar to Hinge. If you're talking like-for-like attributes (not in terms of actual quality) with experience then he'll be in consideration.

Nice of you to drop in Nicksy. One thing I've always wondered, does the fly stay on your head at night time, or do you have a little bed next to yours for it?

We probably knew this already but Smith getting recalled instead of us debuting Edwards confirms that Smith will be delisted at season's end

I'm no Smith fan by any stretch of the imagination, but is it that difficult to see why? Hinge is out which is a tonne of experience out the door so they're no doubt worried about the stability of the backline. Smith also has decent leg speed, very similar to Hinge. If you're talking like-for-like attributes (not in terms of actual quality) with experience then he'll be in consideration. The game is metres gained in that position, and Milera is having a shocker bringing the ball down the ground and keeps passing it sideways (132 metres gained......)

Nankervis just doesn't look great in that position off HB, Curtin doesn't have the speed, we don't want to swing Dawson into that position or we'll simply get murdered in the middle with Cripps/Hewett/Cerra combo...

I'm all for giving Edwards a debut but this coaching group won't take the risk in an inexperienced kid over Smith, ain't gonna happen. Like I've said previously Crows rebuild is done, and giving players games to blood them when they're an unknown quantity isn't going to happen unless they are in a CLEAR vein of form, and when there isn't another experienced option available. The coaching group are terrified for their jobs.

We’ve got plenty of experience in our defence, we don’t need to add experience to offset Hinge missing.

Probably, but that doesn’t mean he should (but I’m more than happy to be proven wrong if he comes in and plays well).

I don’t put a lot is stock in the selection philosophy of our coaching staff.

Definitely not sure - I don’t mind Borlase as depth for the 2nd KPD role, he has his obvious limitations but I don’t think he’s been terrible whenever he’s come in, but like you I rate Butts far higher as a KPD and if he’s fit I’m picking him over Borlase.

We have a 31 year old 250 game player already there, and a 27 year old 100 game former leadership group member, who have both been part of our system for a decade

That is not a dire level of experience that would require us to recall a cooked turnover merchant in place of a promising junior

It's hard to get experience when you never get picked, even if you do show form in the twos.

Again showing another disconnect between list management and coaching. I'm assuming Murphy is gonna get another year because they won't want to make too many changes, but I wonder if they're slapping their heads on the way the coaches pick some weeks.
