I really want to win next week so if that means we bring some more experienced bodies (Johnson, Pearce, Sheridan, Sutcliffe) to help run out the game I don’t mind.

EDIT: Actually no Sutcliffe for 2 weeks at Peel and not injury listed? Anyone have a clue?

Bomber Thompson’s Western delegate?
Only ran laps on Friday.

Next week's 4 points aren't meaningless at all. If we beat the Saints we are 4-4 (and 4-1 at Burswood). The season is very much alive, especially since we have another 8 games (after Saints) in WA. If we can go 10-3 at Burswood we only need to snag a couple on the road to have a sneaky chance of playing finals.

Nothing would help the young guys learn more than an elimination final.

I totally agree that the playing some of the usual suspects just because of their experience is no guarantee of better performance. None of the older guys are banging down the door at Peel. And part of the learning process is learning how to bounce back after a bad game.

I would prefer no unforced changes and expect us to have a win.
I agree a final would be great for them, but I still think if we want them to play in one they should be the guys that get us there.

I suppose the main reason I oppose it is because there is nobody at Peel whom I think makes a tangible different to Freo. Sherro possibly (he does play the odd good game) but the others I can't remember putting up a recent performance worth the trade.

I don't mind swapping young guys around (maybe Giro in for someone) but certainly don't want to see anybody over 26 coming in. Johnno and DP are unfortunately cooked. Sutty is injured anyway so it really is only Sherro - to be honest I am a fan so could live with it.

Awkward because you feel shouldn’t go into your next game unchanged after such a bad loss. But depending on injuries and fitness that team today was the best we have - no-one appears to be demanding selection at Peel.

Not averse to giving Nads a go for balance. Still feel we’re too short in the forward line. Any of Ballas, Matera or a first year player to make way.

I feel Duman or Hughes may be the unlucky ones.

Duman shows a bit but is just too damn light! Hughes took awhile adjusting to AFL again.

Personally, I’d give them both more time.

I agree.

Hughes always seems to take time to get going. Need to persist.

Duman does a lot of good stuff. He got caught with the pace of the game a little today but I think it is a good learning curve for him.

I think we are in violent agreement re the makeup of the team. I don't see the value in any of our older players not in the team right at the moment. A mixture of the 22 from today plus some of our younger injured guys are the mainstay for the rest of this season. Perhaps later on we will see Giro or some of the younger talls at Peel get a game. But I also hope we are ambitious for the season.

Look I know I’ll be shut down, but Kersten really deserves a go after yesterday’s game. Don’t know if it’s back or in the Fwd line. But 21 possessions and 10 marks is big for him. Should be rewarded.

I think Nyhuis should get a run too. One of the few seniors that hasn’t got a run yet.

Strads should be in if we are feeling lucky. Hopefully Walters is in.

On the outs:

One of Matera, ballas or crowden has to make way for a Medium/Tall. They haven’t been terrible, but they are a bit too short for my liking to be in the same Fwd 50..

I’m not sold on Cox at all. Had a good 5 mins but other than that..Strads is a better all round option as he’s better in the ruck, more athletic and a better kick. Cox has buckets but that’s about it.

I’m so sick of McCarthys performance away from home. Where’s the heat on this guy???? Every time we play away!!!!look at his numbers against Port, GWS and Richmond. If the whipping boys had those numbers, knives would be out. Double Standards. Still we can’t afford to drop him.

In: Walters, Strads, Nyhuis/Kersten

Out: Hughes, Crowded(unlucky but we need a shorty out), Cox

Couldnt decide between Nyhuis and Kersten. Would like to have both playing but couldn’t find a fourth player to drop. They’re the same size and can play both ends.

Will those changes occur, probably not.

how many chances is Ballas going to get? I mean I get we need some veterans while rebuilding but god he wastes opportunities. If Walters or Hill are fit I hope they come in for him, surely can’t go on another year?

Matera in particular, has done a lot of stuff right and shouldn't be dropped.

You also can't really judge our forwards on that performance. Whenever the team gets smashed the forwards don't get near it - any of them. Not just Cam. Go back and look at last season when we got flogged and even Sonny couldn't get a touch. All of our away games have been tough fixtures, it is not real surprise that we got smashed and our forwards barely got a touch. Cam is also still being asked to play body on body which is clearly not his thing. He actually competed fairly well today in that regard.

I don't advocating dropping a guy just because he is short either. If he is doing the role then he stays, if not then he can go. His height is irrelevant (directly anyway).

Ballas wasn't amazing today but all our forward play **** when we get smashed. Not sure it is all on them.

Wanting 2 was the media release during the week. I spat out my cup of coffee and I hadn’t even taken a sip.

Harsh on Ballas. The forwards never stood a chance, McCarthy was constantly double teamed. Cox was an aerial threat, but lazy with his pressure, which needs to be addressed asap

Oh no for sure, not entirely the Forwards fault, but for the chance ballas gets at goal he hasn’t done much at all this year

North only had 15 touches for Peel. Not sure that is worth selection. Let him build IMO.

Our forwards besides Walters only perform when they have it on a silver platter imo.

Our forwards need to create more half chances with every i50.

I have nothing against Small Players, but we continue to use them as aerial targets. Why? They should be front a centre to the crumbs of Cox/McCarthy. And not bloody crowding the 50. Keep it open ffs.

Ballas had a nice crumb in the last. Wheeled around with plenty of time and stuffed his snap from 30m out. He also missed the first set shot of the game from what should be a bread and butter 40m set shot slight angle.

In fact he nearly missed his 10m out shot on goal.

He’s annoying me immensely.

Who is there really?

Nads is a few weeks off. Kersten is barely even playing good footy. Doesn't deserve AFL time.

Hill may come out, he's been underwhelming. Injured?
Perhaps
In: D. Pearce
Out: Hill?
Pace, need some restructuring.

This has me baffled also. I’m not sure who’s to blame. Is it the smalls for leading like they are CHF’s, is it our key forwards for NOT leading or is it our midfield for kicking to the smalls.

Whatever it is, it happens every game.

Thought Cam Mac was actually one of the best few in the first half. Tried hard with shitful and oft non-existent service given how many times the ball was turn over before it even got there.

S Hill unacceptable from him. A couple of times just jogged into contests. If he is injured rest him up, if not even you can play at Peel mate.

Maybe go Nyhuis for S Hill and ping Blakely into the mids.

Crowden I do think needs a spell and I think we could probably afford to go a bit taller against the Saints if Strnadica is ready for a league game. If not then no other changes.
