Why though? It really shouldn’t, our defenders are all very good in the contest barring Houli and short, and our structures are super strong to not allow us to be opened up through the corridor which I noticed we did really well in the first half, it’s just manpower or lack thereof through the guys that hurt us yesterday
Common theme in our losses at the G.Sides use the little 15mtr chipping game to a point where our defensive structures become null & void.
Without the pressure sides easily pick and choose to go short or long. We're now guessing where the ball is ending up.

Ralphsmith is one guy I’m excited to see play he has so much upside.
Let’s give him a block of games and see what he has to offer has a big tank and apparently willing to work hard defensively so sounds like a Dimma man
Watching last weeks vfl.
I'm bullish about Cumberland.
Quicker version of Caddy.

And guessing wrong almost every time.

Would it be out of the question to have a plan B that involves playing man on man? Or do we only know how to guard space?

Think we have to try and tighten up in the mid/wing so the ball is rushed into the oppos fwd line.Thats when we're at our best. Not having 2/3 best 2 way runners out(Meatball & Lambo) isn't helping mind you.
manup through the midfield is the key.

Ladder predictor got us finishing 6th. Reckon that means they concede West Coast and Brisbane beat us. Win those and 4th probably likely
I'm putting both of those down as losses. We'll be playing Brisbane missing key players, out of form, and with them now in form, and with West Coast...when was the last time we beat them in Perth?

We also have Freo away ,Suns away and Giants away plus we have the cats again and the Lions twice .I think we'll end up in the 7-10 range .

How many times must this be said, are the coaches addressing our forward line issues.

First, on the Cats, they kicked many of their goals from lead up passes. It was doing my head in seeing cats players marking easy hit up passes then putting it straight through the big sticks. Rohan, Cameron, Hawkins, Esava were all marking the ball out in front.

Then look at our forward line, just bombing with no thought process and hoping that lynch or jack would take a big mark, well they didn't and it just then gets rebounded out of our D50, which the cats kicked 8 goals from D50 that's unheard of, their ave is 3 per game.

Against the dogs, I did notice our forwards leading up to the ball especially lynch but that's far and few between, it rarely never happens.
Lynch notoriously always plays from behind, he is a man big man leading up to the ball I dare say not many would be able to stop him and if they attempt as backmen do he is more than likely to receive a free for a chop of the arm.

Our forward 50 entries are deplorable trying to manufacture goals out of anywhere. We always hear we had 50 or 60 Forward 50 entries for little output that's because the long bomb is a 50/50 contest and more times than not the opposition backs are clearing it out.

Our forwards need to lead into space for the easy hit up the pass.
Cats, Dees, Dogs, Port, Eagles and Swans more times than not look for the lead-up pass.

Dimma, Clarke and the mid coaches need to address this asap. Teams are working us out, the long bomb must stop. Yes, there will be times when the quick kick needs to go in but geez the teams above us are entering the fwd 50 with ease hitting up their forwards.

Coaching structure
  • Damien Hardwick. Senior coach.
  • Andrew McQualter. Assistant coach, midfield/offensive.
  • Adam Kingsley. Assistant coach, midfield/stoppage.
  • Xavier Clarke. VFL & Development coach, forwards.
  • Ivan Maric. Ruck coach.
  • Sam Lonergan. Development coach & VFL midfield

Not sure the role they have in mind but he could play hb, Hf, wing.
On top of injuries we have George ,who has barely touched it for 3 or 4 weeks, badly out of form. Mansell who has been solid but could make way
Mansell kept Kosy very quiet one week, plays through head high contact the next. RCD 2 games into his career. just getting a couple of games. Can Mansell play mid? Debuting another player right now doesn't seem right, unless it was a ruckman to replace Nank. Even CJ has played the one game. Playing Dusty, Shai, Graham as staring mids is good. RCD & Ross could do with stepping it up.

Is Mansell a specialist small defender?
He's a small defender. If he stays in we'll have Grimes, Astbury, Balta, Broad, Vlastuin, Houli, Short and Mansell. Surely 8 defenders is a little more than enough?

Unless he plays as a midfielder and someone else makes way.

Cats destroyed us with the hit up passes , still think we need another marking option to make oppo defenders accountable so lynch and jack are one out, no suprise our forward line is dangerous
When lynch is leading to the ball carrier like against the dogs, you're spot on its a problem we need to fix asap.

If we let toby Greene run around by himself again I’ll lose my *en s**t

I know we have a system but ffs Greene is an absolute star of comp and has to be close checked by grimes imo... just blanket the little prick

although I do love the campaigner
