Feels like a guy who we've overcoached and he's not playing on instinct anymore. Just looks like he's got 10 things running through his head when he gets it and I don't recall him being so tentative with the ball in hand previous to this year.
Feels like a guy that's miserably out of form to me, he was shocking today with ball in hand, honestly he was a rabbit in the spotlight continually running himself into trouble of his own doing. I'm a fan of Nank but that was unacceptable today. Send him back to the 2's get some confidence again before he stinks up another AFL game like what we witnessed today.

Re: Crouch ...
Our midfield did well (better) tonight without him, helped by a better effort from ROB in ruck.
ROB still hit a few Carlton blokes with taps down their throats, but his positioning was much better (didn't impede teammates as much as he has).
Two of his handball involvements were excellent and resulted in goals!

One thing I've noticed about Nank is almost every time he gets the ball he tries to take on a tackler. Usually by trying to spin out of it which results in someone else tackling him and him either giving away a free or a wild handball to get rid of it. Looks like he is trying to show he can evade everyone rather than do the simple pass each time. Has happened multiple times a game the last few weeks
Yep, Hinge does it to and I actually think opposition players/coaches have cottoned on because they both keep getting caught.

They're problem is they both exclusively try to use the spin method rather then then fend or burst methods. Which is good when the defender doesn't know its coming, but super easy to tackle when they anticipate it, as there is no pace behind them.

Milera for example uses all 3, which is why he's so good at evading tackles.

That's what Milera used to do in defense to open overlap and why Nankervis is more effective playing HB.

Anyone who watched that game (and last week) should know Nank can't be named for the Showdown. He's so far out of form I said "Oh thankgod" when I heard he was subbed.

Needs to go back and badly needs to remember every meaning of term "1st option". Back to basics Luke.
I like that he doesn't want to just bomb it long down the line every time he gets it, but atm he is running himself into trouble just about every time he gets it. He needs to just take the game on and kick it to a contest down the line if he can't see anyone in the clear.

He needs to go back to the SANFL and work on this for a few weeks to get his confidence back.

Berry looked pretty sharp when he came on. Clean hands, ran hard and tidy disposal. I know coming off the bench full of beans when everyone else is tiring can be misleading but I hope he stays in the 23 at least.

What the club will do:

Out: Nank
In: Hinge

Sub Smith (Berry to best 22).

What I would do:

Out: Smith, Nank
In: Hinge, Bond

Sub: Berry

Have been anti using a tagger, but think the 1 way we lost to the Pear is if Butters gets off the chain. I would bring in Bond purely for that reason. Smith / Serong destroyed us and Cripps was given far too much space at least 5 stoppages.

Cmon Brodie, finish it there mate.... that was a good way to go out.

Nank wasn't good, and hasn't been great since he came back into the side out of position so he'll probably the one that slides out for Hinge.

Outside of that we won't be making too many changes

Who is playing the other wing then?

Fog and thilthy both didn’t look right, hopefully another week gets them right.
Good post.

A lot of credit has to go to our other small forwards that stepped up.

I wouldnt have believed if you told me before the game that Fog and TT both would kick just 3 goals and we would win by 10 goals.

There's a distinction between players who get caught trying to take the game on vs those who get caught trying to evade a tackler because they need more time to decide what to do with the ball, which I think is where Nank is. People talk about over coaching but players need to learn to be decisive in the blink of an eye. Not an easy skill to learn under a high level of scrutiny. The best players make decisions faster which gives them more options.
