What do people think of the management of Sanders last year by the Dogs? High draft pick mid in a mid-table side, 14 games, 9 full games and 5 with some sort of sub role, 28% CBAs. Has played every game so far in his second year. This time last year he was in the VFL after he'd played 6 games to start the season (3 full games, 2 subbed off, one as sub). Came back in round 11 as the sub and had a run of 8 games from there.

Was that a normal intro to the game for a high end draft pick? Terrible mismanagement? Malpractice? Has it held him back this year?

Personally I'd have no issue if Draper took a similar trajectory. I think it would be bad for him to spend half the season in the SANFL from here. Don't have an issue if he's in and out a bit as long as he's getting regular AFL exposure.

Also have to take into consideration the depth and quality of their midfield last year and this year compared to ours.

WB have massively underperformed over the past few years IMO.

So if Ratugolea goes to Thilthorpe and Bergman goes to Fogarty, that would leave Alir of Tex (who would be licking his lips surely when he trots out and sees Alir coming to him).......if we can't make Port pay when we go inside 50, its on us, We have the firepower to blow them away if we can match their intensity on the night

Burton might go to Tex.


We need to isolate RT as much as possible.

Alir is not great one on one, and is starting to show his age as well. Losing a step.

Footy wire lists him at 73kgs.

Nick Daicos - 183cm / 72kgs - 23 games rookie year.
Levi Ashcroft - 179cm / 75kgs - played significant minutes every game so far.
Nick Watson - 170cm / 69kgs - played 18 games

I am not saying throw him into the middle for 90% of gametime. Put him on a wing / HBF with a couple stints in the middle.

The most important thing for him is getting him on the field. He isn't a long term project player. He is the future and we need him to get to 50 games ASAP.

I said I think Draper is "immensely talented" and I'd like to see him playing full AFL games asap, when he's ready.
Is he "ready" now? I do not know, but he looks good. It's not my call.
I don't know about Watson, but I don't think Draper is as good as Daicos (who is touted by many to be the best player in the Comp) or Ashcroft.

I think it was odd that Draper played a 1/4 for us, then 2 days later played 3/4 of SANFL and excelled, then got dropped, but I'm not going to fly into a rage about it.
I do not trust Nicks, but I trust Burgess and Davis both of whom know much, much, MUCH more than me about if/when an 18yo is ready to play AFL or not.
If Nicks is an obstacle to Draper's development or holding him back against their advice, SACK NICKS.

Several years ago, my sister and niece went to a PA-home Showdown wearing Crows scarves and were abused/bullied so badly --- traumatically --- that they've never gone again.

And they were not smack in the middle of the cheer squad.

I sat multiple times in port home showdowns surrounded with port fans while sitting in my crows gear. No one said shit, in fact had good conversations as many if we were winning were actually complementary and saying where they were at fault. Never was abused. But I wasnt surrounded by anyone drinking. More older people and families. Even lining up for the toilets etc, nothing. I did have some guy merely shoulder me as he walked past once but his mrs absolutely ripped him for it in front of everyone. haha
