There seems to be endless bleating on this thread about which marginal fringe player gets a game. My key concern is our inclination to play injured/underdone players. Sometimes it works but imho more often it fails.

So… this week give Ah Chee and Fog a run in the Twos and give ANB a couple of weeks rest.

Out - Butts. In - Nick Murray. Like for like

Out - Tex. In - ROB. Toby Murray plays as our second tall forward. ROB and McAndrew ruck 50% ToG.

Out - ANB In - Dawson. Give ANB a couple of weeks rest to get back to full fitness

Out - Taylor. In - Edwards. I like Zac but we can play Soligo more forward, give Edwards another couple of games

Bond, Cumming, Pedlar are on notice.

man, pls dont encourage wayne to start extolling his expressed virtues of the orange turd. the intl politics thread is very hard going already haha
:laughv1:
There's a Politics thread? <<eyes light up>> :D:hearteyes:
Please, don't tell me where.
I don't need another distraction to help me stay awake from midnight to dawn.
ps i dont know why some posters arent just happy to say, as you happily do, i was wrong re this player etc
I dunno that I am "happy" to say when I'm wrong. It's more like this:
1777954443962.gif
along with "Oh ****, got that wrong. Another one!".
Hey, when I'm demonstrably wrong, I'm wrong :embarrassedv1:, but the key word is "demonstrably" because I need evidence. Non-abusive counter-argument with reasons will win me over every time.

P.S. It goes back to my training/education (politics/Philosophy <== explains a bit, eh? :rolleyesv1: :laughv1:)
. for some posters to dig in on issues when the facts are so obviously contradicting their stance
Even then, facts can be interpreted, eg Berry's 19 tackles.
The 19 is indisputable fact; their impact is subject to a lot of debate.
Someone said that's because he's second to the ball. Abernathy on Ch7 said (a la Leigh Matthews):
"When you've got the ball you don't need to tackle".
Someone else said "Yeah, but he also got 29 possessions" <== another fact, which adds to the merit of Berry's game imo.
just seems so.......
... stubborn? Pig-headed? Illogical?
I don't get it either.
well its hard to respect.
That's a kind understatement.:sneaky:
It's also what makes it so hard for me to respect Nicks, the Coach.
He's stubborn/inflexible.
Repeats his mistakes.
Blames the players and never reflects (publicly at least) on his Selections, his player positioning, his adherence to defence etc.
Now maybe, just m-a-y-b-e, it's all a part of some grand plan that he has that is building our blokes up to win a Flag.
Yet to be seen, and I can't see it happening, but that doesn't mean it won't.
Nostradamus, I ain't.

Now, if it does happen, say, in 2027, I want to be the first to say I was wrong about Nicks who is actually a master-Coach, that I love Nicks and that Nicks is my hero <== bookmark that for end September 2027, just in case.
If there's gonna be a Nicks Flag-winning party, I wanna be there! :grinv1:

Another P.S. --- I'm in a contemplative mood, more than usual  :shoutyoldman:.
It's a bit like an Atheist (eg me) who dies and finds him/herself in Heaven.
I'd shrug and go, "Oh well, I got that wrong, too, but at least I'm not in, you know ...
1777957268120.webp  😬.

Ah chee came back did his hammy again, so shoukd be eased back into it via the SANFL. FOG really shoukd co.e in If he is truly ready to go as its a better bet than Maley or an under developed Ludo or Marsh.

The obvious is Tex and Butts for Murray and FOG

Would like to see them give Cumming a run in the 2nds along with Taylor and give Edwards and Dowling a go.

Id actually give Filthy a rest this week. Which would mean Fog and Toby Murray up forward. I'd give McAndrew a rest also and play ROB. Dawson, N Murray Ah Chee in. Seriously not much difference playing sanfl or Richmond this week.

Wouldn't that be almost like playing Richmond with all their outs?

Even if it's Richmond the speed will be higher than that of a SANFL game. I don't think Ah Chee needs to be thrown straight into that.

I get the need to rest players that aren't fully fit but there's a more pressing need to work on ball movement and F50 entries and this is a golden opportunity to do that. So it's a fine line.

The only player I wouldn't mess around with is Thilthorpe. If he's carrying even a little bit of a back injury, put him in cotton wool for a week or two.

I wouldn't be resting anyone else unless they really need it.

Walker, Butts, ANB out
Fog, Murray, Dawson in

Out: Bond, Tex, Butts
In: Murray, Dawson, Draper

I do want to add more offensive power in that back 50, however, if we're not going Cook, I'd like to see us give Taylor a run in the half back line for a few weeks. Another very neat footballer who could do with more responsibility, and I'd be happy to just get Draper in for additional pace in our forward 50 (not super worried about his SANFL performances, though I haven't watched the last two weeks). Other two are pretty self explanatory, and I really hate our defensive unit shapes up with Bond, Max and Laird as potential key parts of our ball movement game.

Fog is fine to return - he’s only missed a month and a 70% match fit Fog better than a 100% Maley

Ah Chee on the other hand needs a week or two in the sanfl - he’s had three hammy’s since joining the club and need some continuity

Fog looked well underdone at the start of the season/

**** me, you're playing McAndrew, ROB and Toby Murray?

Christ, why don't you stick Maley in there, for the maximum level of big lugs?

Personally, is rather being fit players straight into the AFL. But I don't care that much - I WOULD hate to see big thick goons running around barely getting a touch though.

We know he doesn't enjoy playing one out, likes to play up field and get involved more

So maybe lets try that ??

9 day break and an easy kill to pump his tyres up a bit
Win/Win: What would you do if jesus christ came to Adelaide this week? Move Filthy to CHF.

Underdone or back injury hampered him?
I thought he looked a bit heavy TBH, but given he had a sore back it would be reasonable to think his conditioning wouldnt be to the level we'd like.

Im happy enough to have him back in the senior side, but he wouldnt have been far off a week in the 2s.
