He's also pretty bad one on one.

Probably getting close to ruling a line through him.
Has been one of our real disappointments this year

So many pegged him as that reliable defender who should/would just slot in

With more exposure he has proven not to be anywhere near as reliable as made out to be

Out:
Walker (inj - the end is nigh)

Butts (inj - starting to fall into the “will he ever play 10 games in a row” category. Injury prone and further proof that Borlase is a must-keep)

Bond (just not good at football and shouldn’t be anywhere near the senior side. Liability. Easiest drop since the Chayce / ROB legacy game and honestly should only ever play if Michalanney is injured)

In:
Dawson
N Murray
Fogarty
(Probably the 3 most obvious ins in years considering who got injured and who’s ready to return)

Dowling, Nankervis and Draper are all in contention if anyone else pulls up injured. God forbid there’s another tall injury and we have to consider Maley or ROB - I’d rather play smaller than even look at it. If we go back to ROB or Chayce I you just have to laugh at how out of their depth the coaching and selection panel really are. I wouldn’t hate a Marsh debut if ANB didn’t get up - he’s looked better the last two weeks in the twos.

We are playing some absolutely terrible football in 2026. We were completely ****** by the umpires tonight, probably the worst overall rogering for a game that has occurred since the 2012 prelim, but we still can’t really sit here saying “we deserved to win”. We were terrible. Skills deplorable. A team devoid of confidence with a nonsensical game plan. It’s going to be a rough rest of the season and I’m far from convinced we can even make the top 10, but at least we have Brayden Cook.

Bullen but might put as well with that knee, I would be bringing in Draper, Dowling and Nank letting some guys rest. We looked shocking skill wise so I can’t see why Dowling somone in form can’t get a game.
Desperately need to take on a small fwd mid season and replace Taylor.

Would we really go in without Walker and Fogarty with Thilthorpe struggling?

Does Ludowyke or Welsh get a shot (acknowledging neither are ready).

Maley comes back in?

Toby Murray play more forward?

True, Malley could perform against Richmond for sure. Don’t mind it!

I was genuinely embarassed by RT - at times he looked like he wasn't assed. As our blue chip key forward, he seriously needs to lift for the rest of the season.
We took too long to move him up field IMO.

A real coach would have gotten him into the play. Mind you, left foot snap from the boundary wasnt bad.

A rest, and dare I say it, a struggling opponent next week, should give us scope to be a bit creative.

JK Dowling is a goal kicker. I’d put him in to play up forward. Maybe give Archie or Welsh a go. I know it’s not in our nature to play a debut until someone has won a Magarey and broken Peter Carey’s games record, but let’s live a little.

Nope.

Have we not learnt from ANB, Hinge, Soligo......

Fogarty and Ah Chee should be nowhere near the lineup yet.
No, we have not

Why do we talk about rests each week? There won't be any rests.

Remember that time when we actually did rest Walker for the away trip and likely loss to Geelong? Then a couple of weeks later he was fresh as a daisy, kicked 5 goals, got 10 coaches votes and won us the game?

But then we instantly forgot that and he flew for hours both ways up to the Gabba, for a game we were never going to win, had to come back and play off a 5 day break and did his hamstring in the first quarter?

Even when we do rest and get amazing results vindicating the rest we forget about rests.

We will do whatever gives us the highest number of sore, underdone players or chance of creating further injuries.

Is TTs back still ****ed? Certainly feel at times like things look tough for him (still does some special stuff).

I think we can afford to play without both. Send Nick Murray forward, send Dawson forward, heck send Dan Curtin forward for stretches.

I dont want the team to underestimate Richmond but Dawson or Murray going forward can give us the marking target and Fog if he is ready.

Maybe Filthy just needs a rest here. Have him slightly fresher for the North/Hawks games and then another bye.

Disregard if he is physically fine I guess.
