That void is real. Prior to the funeral there’s focus, plus there’s lots of support from family/friends etc. then the funeral happens and everyone comes together and then nothing, mostly we all go back to our lives. I know with me I turned up to work and didn’t cry for my sister until about a month later when I broke down seemingly out of nowhere whilst we were walking the dogs.

We’re all different.
For anyone closely involved with suicide it's gut wrenching, I've been through 2, nothing like a normal loss, some just don't get over it. He will need some pretty special support IMO..

I’m probably different, I don’t see it as a loss as bad as people who want to live. I reckon that’s more tragic. For whatever reason, people are in that much pain that they’d rather not be around. Them taking their own lives is nowhere near as sad as someone dying who wants to live. My mum died from cancer at 45 with 2 kids under 6 at the time is tragic, my sister choosing to end her life doesn’t come close in terms of tragedy.

I do understand why most see it differently though. As I said, we’re not all the same.

The 3-6 month mark was the red zone for me.

Once the messages of support dry up and you realise that people are avoiding you, no longer inviting you to weddings, 21sts, etc, that's when it set in for me.

I just hate seeing people who dont want to live who think they have nothing to live for, yet they do.

Wife and I had a mate who had 2 high achieving kids, lovely wife and he was at the top of his own field earning good coin.

I struggle with the why in that sense.

If you cant see what Taylor brings to the side, ahead of someone like say... Keays, then thats fine, but its wrong.
I like** Taylor and Keays (who is finding some form at last).
On Friday night, Keays >> Taylor.
Keays covered the most ground of any player, had a few clever assists and 3 goals.

** I like Fogarty and Pedlar, Nankervis and Borlase too but jeez, they need to do a Cook, asap.
Might be too late for Fogarty; I hope not.
If Sam Berry had the ball handling of Taylor we'd be talking about a topline midfielder.
If Keays had Tex's ambidextrous kicking power/accuracy, he'd win another couple Gold Jackets.

Fogarty will thrive just as soon as we get a critical mass of players who can hit up a lead. Fog is a lead up forward. The quality of a Cook can bring out the best in him but too many either bomb or simply don't have the finesse to execute properly.

Some would say just play Dawson not in the midfield. Anyone that says that is kidding themselves about the quality of our midfield. It's not good enough for him to play half back or wherever.

Dawson isn’t actually that good an inside player.

Last year he averaged 4.4 clearances, and 9.6 CP while getting more inside time than any of the other mids. Those are career best numbers.

The thing that makes him standout is his ball use, and we diminish that by playing him so much on the inside. Were robbing Peter to pay Paul.

His games gassing Brisbane was the best one he’s played in awhile. He’d arguably be the best wingman in the game if we played him there.

Our ball movement is just as big a problem as our clearance game, and Dawson improves one more than the other.

Curtin was crucial in the Cook goal.
He contested the ball coming in, recovered to space for the Milera handball (where he controlled the loose ball) then gave the perfect forward hand pass to Cook for him to win us the game.
He was clean under pressure and made excellent decisions.. in his first game of the season.

I’m licking my lips when this guy has got full confidence and game fitness up to scratch

Taylor is more valuable than Pedlar, look at the work Taylor does for the non goal from Milera.

I wish we could get Taylor into the game more because ball in hand he's very good.
There's some smart, clean players on our list who we need getting more of the ball.

We've seen with Milera and Cook this season what a boost it is to get the ball into the hands of our more skilled players more often. It's been an effort (and taken years) to get to that point. It's not an automatic part of our game plan.

Taylor rarely wastes a disposal. Get his disposals up to the magic Fogarty 15 and we have a player. He gets bypassed regularly. Even Cumming who has been slated on here this season has had 29 touches over the last 2 weeks at 100%. Should be going out of our way to get that to 20+.

We're probably one skilful outside runner short ideally (a behind the ball sweeper) but there's still room for improvement with the existing personnel.

I wouldn’t even try to understand, if we could, it’d be us.
