Prediction R9: Changes vs Swans

Crowden's an interesting one, reckon he must have the highest career average htb's/game. But he also cracked in hard, e.g. winning the ball back twice in the last when Fyfe handballed to someone hot rather than kicked.
He receives the ball under a hell of pressure and plus instead of evading or side stepping, like a lot of midfielders do, he tries to fend off or ride through the tackle. Just doesn't have that awareness and smarts about it, yet. It'll come, just needs to be quicker and more agile in close.
His hunger though, he can play no doubt. His kicking is elite.

As for Nads, Apeness can't see them coming in until 2 weeks minimum. Just match fitness. Perhaps around the bye (21st June) ?

Would rather keep the young boys in, another tough road game will be good experience, especially on a unique ground like the SCG.
The main four (Brayshaw/Banfield/Cerra/Crowden) haven't shown any reason to be dropped yet.

I think it should be mainly based on 'forced' changes from injuries and best 22 players that are back (hopefully S.Hill, Wilson, Walters might be another week?) and replace like for like with them where possible. Wholesale changes not helpful or necessary.

S.Hill for Nyhuis
Wilson for Duman
Walters (if fit) for Tucker or Pearce

Yup. Effort is there. Awareness needs work but that work should be done at AFL level not Peel.
He will love the SCG I reckon.

I think the club is committed to developing the young guys and that only happens with game time. If Banfield and Crowden were lacking in confidence I’d perhaps drop them to get some touch, but that is far from their problem. They both have the tools to be great role players they just need exposure.

The MC never make big changes after a win, so I only see injuries as the possible outs.

Out Balla
In SHill (possibly)

Nyhuis fwd and hill goes back

Crowden & Banfield to swap roles for at least the first 1/2 of the game.
That gets Crowden into the play more where his tackling will put off his tagging target, while he will hopefully learn quickly to dispose of the ball faster.
Banfield gets a rest from the hard tagging role & gets to be a taller target up forward, while maintaining his strong attack on the ball & his opponent
It is worth a try against aside we are expected to lose to

Cox positioned well, but he can't kick or mark to save his life. He's good for team balance, but seeing him on the end of a chain of handballs is the stuff of nightmares.

Nads will be an upgrade on him.
Strongly disagree. Cox is taberener Mach 2. Once he gets confidence he could be a beast. His kicking will never be elite though.

As others have said Duman needs to learn to defend and needs more size if playing in the backline. He might be ok on the wing for now.

Nhyuis besides the one bad kick I thought was neat and a typical nhyuis game. I don’t know why after playing that great north game on Tarrant it wasn’t tried again. Should’ve started on a forward tag on Carlisle.

Cox wasn’t great. Can take a contested mark, but never seems to be a leading option and is such an unreliable kick at goals. Hamling struggling also, if membrey could kick, he may have had 5 or 6 goals.

Banfield needs to kick more. He does these little handpassss that put the next person under more pressure and probably puts the forwards all out of position.

So changes are: hill, Wilson and Walters if fit, giro

Out - Duman, crowden, Banfield, Johnson

I would also like to see strandica and north get a run for cox and tucker if they don’t improve. Cox escapes getting dropped as apeness and strandica probably not fit enough.

I don’t want crowden, Banfield and Duman to be the next Sutcliffe, Suban, Sheridan, crozier etc.. where we get games into them, but is pointless if they are not long term afl players. I do like all of crowden, Banfield and Duman but think they need to work of some things at peel for a week or two

I was wondering about this - is it just bad luck that he’s never been allowed any space with the ball?

I have no idea what he’s capable of because he hasn’t had a patch of grass to fly through. I’d persevere with him.

In those loses (GWS and West Coast) we had Wilson, S.Hill and Walters for 1 and 1/4 of the games. We also all have a right to point out the flaws in your views.

You absolutely have the right to point out my flaws, Just as I have the right to moan about any game win or loss.

I thought we were a no excuse footy club?? Eagles had Nui, shuey and the other bloke out yesterday and won away albeit a injury hit gws. We had 3 players missing and what we can’t cover them?

It was a bad loss and I can’t see us winning another one until rd 15 if we put up another performance like that. We’ve won 4 games against 4 shite teams..big teams coming up.

Mccarthy is shot, and against Sydney he ll be destroyed. I don't know who he should be dropped for that's the problem. Feel like he's hanging around waiting to get good. Makes it hard on the forward line.
Crowden got caught too many times, but he gave his all and can push around taller players. Mccarthy can't even compete 1 on 1.

D. Pearce deserves to stay. Good goal, kicked well.

In: Walters, S. Hill (if fit)
Out: Crowden, Nyhuis
You don't understand the player that McCarthy is. He is not a full forward yet has to be considering our lack of personnel. He works hard and sometimes being a forward is unrewarding.

Yep, Sandi really needs a rest. There’s still a lot of games we can win that we need him for. We’ll get flogged by Sydney whether he plays or not.
Who comes in? Do we roll the dice with Jones or bring in the skinny but talented Stradnatica? Sinclair carries the load for them, does he not?

How am I the only one that has mentioned McCarthy to be an out??

He was jack Anthony bad tonight.

Surely Stradnatica and Kersten could’ve done better tonight?
He's not coming out so why mention it. We have a complimentary forward line when at full strength which we are not at the moment.

We fully understand what type of player he is...a seagull.

Unfortunately for him he’s 193cm not 178. So as much as you might hate it, the ball will be kicked on his head until there’s others around him.

I’m thinking about compiling clips of his performance last night. It was jack Anthony(against blues) bad. Bad decision making, out bodied everywhere, didn’t bring the ball to ground and only 7 disposals.
You can’t defend this. Rewatch the game and you’ll see it.

Cox was far better and actually put his body on the line on the odd occasion. Can’t believe he was Bronx cheered in the 4th?

Bookmark it now unless Sandi is injured he will play. The SCG is a contested oval and Nads, Meeks, Jones etc are not up to it as yet and we will get smashed.

If Apeness has a few good WAFL games he might be able to give Sandi a rest but not yet.

I like Crowden but a few games for Peel will do him the world of good.

Duman was frustrating last night but I reckon he is worth persisting with. He is a bit slow when picking the ball up from the ground but I like his decision making when in space.
