Prediction R9: Changes vs Swans

That was aimed at the kids, I would rather them play as many games possible and if that means managing their game time, bring it on.

The seniors should be able to play out a season by now unless injured

I would rather Brawshaw rest a week than he play two games with limited game time.

Especially if we have people playing well for Peel who could be playing 1sts.

Walters will more than likely come in for Pearce or Ballas. Not sure Johnson will travel.I have a suspicion that Strnadica will travel with the side this week. Not saying he will play, just travel.
The Bye and state game have done nothing for our players from Peel.

Get cox & Strnadica up forward will free McCarthy up
Swans only have 2 bigger forwards so only need A. Pearce & hamling

YESSS. Really want to see what Strnadica can do

This is the week for a young forward to get caught out of position and struggle to get to the contest, the defence will get slaughtered by the umpires for simply being in the way when a team mate marks it.

We've been training for years in preparation for this week. Imagine the free kicks McCarthy and Cox are going to get if we bomb it on top of their heads 10-15 times a game.

Down to the bare bones again are we? Sandi goes in As the sole ruck again? Gutted Darcy is still out Injured.

There will be 2 or changes this week. If Ballantyne is out, Kersten might come in. If Wilsons back is fine, Give Nyhuis a game up forward. Apeness or Strndica might get a game vs North if they do well for peel this week.

Looking at the injury List, Brad Hills knee is unknown, Stephen Hill could play this week but I rather wait. Same with Walters. Griffen Logue is 2 weeks away as well

Ill go with the best case scenario that Wilson, Walters and S.Hill are all fit. If that is the case then my outs would be Crowden, Johnson and D.Pearce. Sydney have a lot of mid sized quick forwards so Duman and Nyhuis both stay in for mine. I don't mind if Danyle stays in as he was pretty good last week, but if he came in to add experience then obviously we are bringing back a decent amount of that if the three players return from injury. I also think if Alex Pearce does not have an obvious opponent in defence so we would be crazy to not play him forward for at least parts of the game to simply provide an aerial contest forward. Johnson doesn't have a match-up so id be disappointed if they selected him on that basis. This place will melt severely but I wouldn't be surprised if Darcy Tucker was dropped this week for Danyle either.

Nyhius or Duman have to go.

We will get destroyed by the likes of Hayward, Rorke etc if we have both of them in.

And we won’t get destroyed with Johnson? Nyhuis might be our best small lockdown defender.

Nyhuis did most things well in that last game but Duman made some howlers that directly led to shots on goal. Not at all surprising that Duman is still learning but he would be my out for Wilson's return and if Hill is back then I don't see the need for Johnno (especially with the lack of talls at Sydney).

I want MJ out as well.

Wilson > Nyhius
Hill > Pearce
Walters > MJ

Ultimately i would also like to see:
Hughes > Duman

I think Hughers showed enough last year to suggest he has a future and has more potential then Duman, he just needs to string together a few weeks or solid footy at Peel.
Hes a guy that will benefit from playing 3-4 games of AFL in a row more then others might, hes not a hugely natural footballer so he needs time to adjust to the pace more then some.

Nhyuis besides the one bad kick I thought was neat and a typical nhyuis game. I don’t know why after playing that great north game on Tarrant it wasn’t tried again. Should’ve started on a forward tag on Carlisle.
My recollection is that they did. The next week against West Coast on one or both of McGovern and Hurn. Got his arse kicked and finished the game in defence. He then played forward the following week against Hawthorn before getting dropped. Don't recall if he was playing as a defensive forward in that game though.

Hughes is finished bookmark it. When they send him forward for Peel after the bye then we'll all know for sure.

I hope I'm wrong for his sake as he has some tools, but with game being all pressure these days his lack of poise is a killer.

I don't understand why people make statements like this. Hill had a pre-game fitness test last week and failed. If he isn't right, he won't play, what does it matter what your uneducated opinion is on whether he sits out another week or not?

Basically I'm saying, why say something completely baseless like that? You have absolutely zero justification as to why he should sit out.

I'm hoping for three changes with Hill, Wilson, and Walters in. Who goes out is likely to depend on match-ups. Two of them are likely to be Pearce, and Nyhuis. The third will be either Johnson, or Duman. Johnson was good on the weekend, but he was looking sore again at the finish.

Crowden ain't getting dropped guys. Yeah he has been caught with the ball, but it is his efforts without it that matter most. Plus, when he does manage to avoid getting caught HTB, his disposal has been good.

We aren't without a chance, particularly with Buddy out meaning we don't have to play a third tall in defense. We have a midfield that can defeat theirs at the coalface, and while I admit the small ground suits the swans more than Freo, winning the ball out of the centre and locking it forward is going to be at least part of the game plan going in. If we had Taberner available I would almost be feeling confident about this one. Since he is not available, we will be relying on getting that ball to ground as it comes in.

This so much this ! Would love to see these changes

I’m not sure we ever select our team with regard to matching up on the opposition. Sydney has a number of medium size forwards, plus some powerful mids, all strong overhead. MJ looked to finish the game well on Saturday so I would expect him to play against Sydney.
If any two of Hill, Wilson and Walters come in I would expect Nyhuis and Duman to miss. Should all three come in Tucker or DP to miss.

For 90% of your team you don't. Certain positions such as ruck, key forward/back there are definitely reasons to try to match things up.
E.g. the decision to play two rucks is highly dependent on the other teams ruck division.

Can you give any examples where WE HAVE selected our team to specifically counter opposition supposed strength Mattis?
