Then he goes and shuts the best forward line in the competition out of the game with 10 minutes to go, letting Port flood the ball forward time after time. Then, in the last minute he doesn’t even have the brains to get Thilthorpe behind the ball.

I was at the Oval tonight. First away Showdown in over a decade. Boy, are they a different breed of mammal...

Anyway, throughout the game I wasn't annoyed that it was close or some mistakes were made - Showdowns are usually pretty tight. But not gonna lie, I was furious with the way we approached the game. We were borderline arrogant particularly in the box. Our midfield was obliterated, saved by our forward line. To give up 60+ I50s to that rabble?

It was good to win a Showdown obviously, 6W 3L etc, and I don't mean to be negative, but ultimately (and unfortunately) we're not a hard opponent to confuse/hassle if you're prepared. Nicks isn't it.

We get bragging rights but didn't learn anything tonight that we don't already know.

Lots of players below their best tonight, but still got on top. Happy with that

Great to get the 4 points in the bag in a close game. We really shouldn't have won that but sometimes you get lucky. Defence was huge in the last 10 minutes, the ball just kept coming in over and over and they did well to minimise the scoring.

Our midfield was totally out classed. Just didn't have the intensity required for a game like that.

Does Nicks never learn? His gameplan is not good enough to shut down a game 10 minutes before it's over!
