Oh yes you did! This was my favourite one:

Looking at it again, it's interesting how old the "Defensive Victor" flags are: I think only three of 13 this century? And only one since what I'm guessing is 2005, since which time there have been five or six big attacking victories.

It was just one of those flags lost through bad kicking. There have not been many. Carlton won in 1947 with that sort of luck.

Good luck to the Hawks, they snagged one as well.

If you're referring to 2008, that's a fallacy that Geelong lost it through bad kicking. They actually had less scoring shots than Hawthorn. It only appears otherwise due to the large amount of intentionally rushed behinds by the Hawks defense. Something that wasn't against the rules at the time. A great strategy by the Hawks who possibly couldn't have won otherwise.

The way i see the game currently is that your can get to the big dance with an amazing defence but the powerhouse offensive team tends to take the chocolates on the day now.

Be interesting to see that before/after 2000 and 1990. I wonder if the advent of better skills and modern coaching strategies might be responsible for the attacking bias.

I may simply be reflecting your username - but i'd be expecting WC to lose at least 4
Collingwood, Sydney, Freo and Hawks I have put down as losses

Adelaide x2, Bulldogs I have put 50/50

Other games should be wins but eh, you never know.

We could finish as high as 2nd or as low as 9th.

No reason why west coast can't win it. I'd have them favourite then the hawks

Maybe if we beat freo Hawks or swans then I'll give us a chance, even then they're all at home so probably not the absolute ultimate test. I guess thing with interstate sides is sometimes the only chance they get to play the best team at the G is GF day, so anything can happen. We need to finish 2nd and try and avoid freo in the finals.

I'd much rather play freo in the finals than sydney anywhere or hawthorn at the G.

Theres a breakaway group of five now, but if collingwood was up there too I wouldnt be surprised. If collingwood have played few top teams, does that degrade their squiggle performance ?

Note if you interpret the grouping as 5+8+5, there is a fairly even spread of vic v non vic sides

Theres 3:2. Then 4:4. Then 3:2

In general you need to really belt a weak side to move the same as barely beating a good side. That's by design though. So they're likely exactly where they should be based on how they've played against who they've played.

You seem confident. How's the record been against Freo in recent times?

Not at all, but i'd prefer to play against freo with our current side than against sydney (anywhere) or hawthorn in melbourne. However if we were playing each other next weekend i think we would win. A long way before finals however and we are 1 key injury away from being uncompetitive.
