Hey Final Siren, I noticed that you said your algorithm downloads results through a Perl script. Where does it download them from, if you don't mind me asking?

Final Siren it looks like the round 21 match between Adelaide and Fremantle is predicted as a win for Adelaide, but Fremantle seem to be assigned the win on the ladder. The home and away predictions have Adelaide only losing one more (to Geelong away) and so should finish 17/5 instead of 16/6.

Is that a bug?
You need to look at how many partial wins are allocated to both teams and what the chance is of a Freo win compared to a Crows win.

Two of their past three games have been played in torrential rain. That makes them look more defensive and less attacking than they actually are.
4 games heavily rain affected this season for the Swans. Were 18th for disposal efficiency prior to this round.

(from the fine print on the website):

"How Prediction Works

This is a probabilistic ladder, not a simple tally of squiggle tips. Sometimes a team will be tipped to win but not seem to be credited for it: this is because the predictor considers the likelihood of upsets. For details, click INFO → Prediction at the top of this page."

Final Siren it would be great to see a squiggle of world war 2.

Id imagine Germany around 1940 would rate through the roof and be in the conquering zone after the defeat of Poland and France. But Russia, would be flying late into calculations after Stalingrad

Italy would need 2 squiggles

France would disappear after 1940

But I like this idea haha :thumbsu:

Japanese would finish with a bang

But how would you calculate this? Would you divide the world into provinces ala Europa Universalis and then count the number of provinces each controls?

You mean like how they beat you last year in the rain?
I'd hate to think what a little bit of water would do to the Dogs, considering they got absolutely flogged with the roof open. Heavens forbid a final in the outdoors, it would be a down right travesty!

This also applies to North who've been absolute tripe in the outdoors too.

Poor Brad Scott would either drown in the rain or his own tears because he can't close the damn roof!

Just need to go back a few weeks to the Swans press conference to see just how sour the grump was. You'd think that after 5 years as a senior coach he would have learned to approach topics tactfully, rather than head on like a raging bull. That twat from Hawthorn is just as guilty, but you just need to look at coaches like Paul Roos, John Longmire, Leon Cameron, John Worsfold and Ross Lyon to see how behaving well after the game regardless of the result doesn't land their team in hot water.

The Scott twins, Leppitch, Voss (to some extent), definitely FIGJAM and other no-longer-coaching coaches (especially Mark Neeld who was one of the absolute worst senior coaches I've ever seen) have occasionally disgraced themselves, tactfully and completely recklessly like the last time.

Back on topic though, Swans tracking far off into the right horizon thanks mostly to torrential rain and cyclonic conditions for almost the last 2 months. Swans were the 2nd best scoring side at round 7, but are now the 7th best. Doesn't help when it pisses down every single game without fail.
